The Cleveland Cavaliers handed the Dallas Mavericks one of the most devastating losses of the season tonight. The game was a heated battle from start to finish, and it all came down to the final shot. With 2.6 seconds remaining in the game and the Mavs leading by one point, the unlikely hero Max Strus hit one of the most insane game-winners in NBA history. Strus pulled up from 3/4th court and nailed the three-pointer to lead the Cavs to a miraculous 121-119 win.
Strus’ game-winner was so unbelievable that it even caught the attention of Super Bowl Champions Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. After witnessing the miraculous shot, Mahomes tagged Ohio native Kelce on X and wrote, “Ain’t no way” followed by several laughing emojis.

Travis responded to his Chiefs teammate’s message, “Straight cash!!! Them boys got the juice right now!!” Both Kansas City Chiefs superstars were equally shocked by Max Strus’ quarter-court heave.

Not only did Max Strus hit the game-winner, but he also had a hot hand all night. Strus played great throughout the game and finished with 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Surprisingly, all of Strus’ 21 points came off three-pointers as he shot 7 of 10 from beyond the arc. What was equally impressive about the final play was Evan Mobley’s heads-up pass to Strus. While many players would have turned around and attempted the shot themselves, Mobley decided to pass the ball to the in-form player for a better chance at winning. The risk paid off as Strus swished the shot, leaving the Cleveland crowd in a frenzy.
Donovan Mitchell’s absence made way for Max Strus’ game-winner
After the game, Max Strus revealed what led to him taking the last shot to win the game. “Don was out of the game, so somebody else had to step up.” Strus responded.

Most of the time, the Cavs would have gone to their superstar, Donovan Mitchell, to take the last shot. Unfortunately, Mitchell was on the bench when Dallas took the lead in the last seconds. So, Strus had to take matters into his own hands and get his team the win.

Strus had an incredible fourth-quarter performance. He shot 5 of 5 from the three-point line and went perfectly in the final period. Strus led the Cavs’ 21-9 run to finish the game, which eventually helped them make a comeback and get the win over Dallas. Strus has been a great addition to the Cavs roster since he got traded from the Miami Heat. Hopefully, he will continue to mesmerize more superstars like Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes with his impressive performance.
