Peyton Manning and Steph Curry in golf—who's the bigger legend in their respective sports?

Amid national duty, LeBron James took time out to celebrate NFL legend Peyton Manning. It’s the off-season and the sports world would generally witness superstar celebrities and athletes swinging their golf clubs across the country. Hall of Famer Manning, who is also known for his golfing prowess, joined Stephen Curry for an honor. While the Dubs superstar missed the action this season because of the Paris Olympics, Manning took care of his absence, as he received the honor at the superstar’s hometown, Akron, Ohio.

Every year, the PGA Tour recognizes an icon for their love for the sport and honors them with the ‘Ambassador of Golf’ title. Once presented to President Gerald Ford and President George W. Bush, on the last two occasions, it has been athletes. This year, PGA Tour Champions, along with two other foundations honored Peyton Manning during a dinner at House Three Thirty.

The House Three Thirty is a community center built by LeBron James. And, rightly so, King James took the opportunity and associated with all the plaudits. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar shared a picture from the event and wrote a heartfelt note on his Instagram stories, “Hope you enjoyed my hometown and House Three Thirty,” with a flurry of fire emojis.

At the same time, Peyton Manning also recognized the superstar’s efforts for the people of Akron. Speaking at the House Three Thirty, which the LeBron James Family Foundation created to provide skill-set training to Akron locals, Peyton said, “LeBron has walked the walk, and that says a lot about him. I love the fact that he gives back.”

Speaking of the Akron Hammer, Manning also shared his thoughts on the superstar’s son, Bronny James. He added, “I’m pulling for [Bronny] I don’t know him, but, yeah, obviously, how cool is that for the two of them to play together?… it’s an exciting chapter for his son getting to go play in the NBA.” So, it’s quite clear that Bron’s 19-year-old son has a popular supporter in Manning, amidst his challenging professional beginnings at the Lakers. Speaking of Akron, Ohio natives, let’s now move on to the other one.

Peyton Manning joins Stephen Curry as an Ambassador!

Every ardent Stephen Curry fan would know about the superstar’s love for golf. In fact, during the 2023 off-season, the Golden State Warriors superstar had an absolutely delightful streak. Apart from receiving the ‘Ambassador of Golf’ honor, he also won the Celebrity Golf Championship Tournament at Lake Tahoe. Steph didn’t just win it, but he won it in style. The Akron-born baller dropped a hole-in-one, leaving the community in disbelief.

Have an interesting take?

This event left a reporter asking if he would pursue a professional golf career, leaving the NBA behind. However, the superstar casually declined it for the time being. However, he did admit, “I don’t know what the path is.”

“All I know is when I’m done with basketball, I’m going to reasonably invest as much into my golf as I can to see how good I can get, and where that puts me 14 years from now, we’ll see,” Steph concluded.

Nevertheless, this year, he couldn’t participate in the tournament because of his Olympic debut coming up. Currently, Team USA has traveled to Abu Dhabi for two exhibition games and will then again travel to London for two other games.

Finally, the team would reach Paris for the Olympics. Even though Steph sacrificed the celebrity golf tournament for national duty, Charles Barkley, who is participating in the celebrity tournament, took a light-hearted dig at him, calling him a coward!

Chuck said, “First of all, Steph Curry, he’s a coward. He’s ducking me. Can you believe he knew I was going to play my best round ever? That’s why he’s going to use some lame lame excuse like the Olympics to duck me?”

But, the legend later wished the team luck for the upcoming challenges.
