LeBron James believes in Aaron Rodgers—do you? Will Rodgers prove his doubters wrong?

If there is one path that LeBron James contemplates not taking, it is that of football. Even today, you might catch him stating, “Yeah, yeah, I still got the itch to play. I got the itch, man.” Despite this, he continues to enjoy the sport now as a fan, occasionally booting up the latest version of Madden or cheering his favorite players. Therefore, for anyone missing out on how Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets are performing in the ongoing game, King James has them covered!

The eyes of the NFL world are on the 40-year-old QB today, as his recent appearance comes after missing a majority of his first season with the Jets. Fortunately, Aaron Rodgers seems to be holding his own, as he received a pass from Allen Lazard to make his first-ever touchdown, as a Jet, in the MetLife Stadium. Lazard stayed on his toes, just escaping a tackle by Cornerback Alex Austin, running even as he grabbed the back of the jersey, and allowed the team to have a 7-0 lead in the first quarter.

LeBron James was certainly in awe of what he saw, as he took to his official X account to write “Helluva drive by 8! Dope Lazard gave him the (football emoji) too! First TD pass at home.” Initial doubts ran rampant in 2023 on whether Rodgers would be able to fit in.

The doubts then turned into a fire when the NFL star sustained a torn Achilles tendon, causing him to miss out on action for a significant amount of time. Despite this, LeBron James stood as an advocate for the veteran. It was only back in November when the hooper highlighted his practice session. He wrote “Wow!!! Simply INCREDIBLE!!. Back where he belong! A-ROD 8️.” With the commencement of the new season, expectations were being downplayed upon the athlete. Renowned analyst Nick Wright recently even stated “I think even healthy, they have average quarterback play this year.” From the early comeback that fans have now witnessed, the term ‘average’ would certainly not be the one being uttered!

Now, Aaron Rodgers is only giving more opportunities to the NFL aficionado to sing his praises as he continues making a mark in the first home game since his return. Bron’s praise comes just a few weeks after he had sent out his flowers to Saquon Barkley and Jeremiah Smith over their astonishing feats. The Laker has shared a history with both individuals, so a shoutout made sense. Saquon Barkley has highlighted his love for the NBA star by donning a version of Nikes that looked eerily similar to the ‘LeBron Air Zoom I’. More recently, he came to LeBron’s defense after the latter was called a ‘hypocrite’ for flaunting his wealth. The Lakers star has a particular eye on Jeremiah, who spends his college career playing for Ohio State, aka LeBron’s hometown. In fact, it has been speculated that LeBron’s endorsement unintentionally played a role in the college recruiting the football player.

However, LeBron James and Aaron Rodgers also have more in common than some would think. After all, both of them continue remaining at the top, despite also being amongst the oldest athletes in their respective domains. The same was also highlighted by NFL analyst Jay Williams, who stated, “I’m not saying LeBron and Aaron Rodgers are the same, but I think the narrative is fascinating. It’s almost like he gets criticized for getting there and not getting over the hump, right?”

Alongside being the oldest, both have also faced trouble in adding a championship title in recent years. This has made them daily topics for the media. However, when it came to choosing between the two, an author highlighted who was the more interesting choice.

Back in August, the buzz in the NFL world revolved around Aaron Rodgers’ biography, titled ‘Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers.’ The author, Ian O’Connor, spent a good part of the year doing interviews and hyping the book’s launch. During one such discussion with Awful Announcing back in March, the author revealed that the focus of his book was not supposed to be Rodgers at all, but LeBron James! Whatever changes took place occurred solely because of his creative differences.

“I was under contract to do a book on LeBron James. There had been a few books done on LeBron, including a fairly recent one. At the same time, Aaron Rodgers got traded into my backyard,” said O’Connor. “I’ve been in the New York market my whole life. So, when that happened, I thought he was a compelling and mysterious figure. I just thought there really had never been a defining book on his career and life. So, I made the switch over to Rodgers to explain to people who he is and why he is the way he is.”

LeBron James is certainly an extensively covered figure in the media. Alongside many books, the hooper has also been featured in documentaries, including Shooting Stars, the Redeem Team, and the upcoming Netflix series, Starting 5.

Therefore, the author saw an opportunity and focused instead on an athlete who is well-known, but not covered to a similar extent. Ironically, even in a loss, King James seems to be winning!
