Has Netflix turned Anthony Edwards into a different player? Austin Rivers seems to think so!

Netflix will finally release a 10-part documentary on NBA players this October. This sports series will feature the behind-the-scenes views on players including LeBron James, Jimmy Butler, Domantas Sabonis, and the young superstar, Anthony Edwards. Now, as much as players would love to watch King James’ locker room scenes, ANT supposedly is also one of the favorites. And why not? Edwards’ All-Star level status has peaked at just 23. Also, given his recent success in the playoffs, it’s clear why Edwards would be the favorite to watch in the upcoming Netflix series.

If anything, his former teammate, Austin Rivers witnessed the Netflix camera following Edwards before and after games. Rivers spent his last season in Minnesota. The former Clipper has a good idea about Edwards’ behavior pre-game. While fans might expect ANT to be fully energized and hyped before games, it wasn’t exactly the case. In the recent episode of Austin Rivers’ podcast, Rivers shed some light on fans’ expectations of ANT’s energy in the locker room.

“You know, obviously people were excited about ANT. I don’t know how much he’ll give them, I think people are overestimating how much fun that’s going to be with him. I could be wrong. During the season, he’s a little bit more reserved in his behavior, especially, you know, if they’re following him on game days and stuff like that… Yeah, yeah. You know, he’s definitely the fan favorite out of the group.”, said Rivers.

Now, we’ve seen Edwards play an excellent role in the Netflix movie, Hustle, starring Adam Sandler and NBA player, Juancho Hernangomez. In Hustle, ANT played the role of somewhat of a villain. His energy in the film was unmatched and that’s what fans might expect ANT to be in real life. But then again, every player’s game-day routines are different and of course, they are focused during their pre-game rituals. But what about before Edwards hits the court?

What does Anthony Edwards’ game-day routine look like?

For Anthony Edwards, game day prep is sacred, and it all starts with a nap. “Pre-game nap is more important than eating for me. On game day, yeah, if I don’t take my pre-game nap, you can wrap it up—I’m going to have a bad game,” said ANT, highlighting just how vital his three-hour nap is before he hits the court. Once he’s rested and ready, Edwards follows his ritual: hitting the floor hours before tip-off, working on the same shots he’ll use in the game, preparing for those poster-worthy moments fans live for.

But what about the energy he brings to the locker room? That’s something fans will finally get a front-row seat to in his upcoming Netflix series, Starting 5, releasing October 9th. Known for his trash talk on the court, Edwards brings a different vibe behind the scenes, especially during the tense moments before a game. Fans caught a glimpse of his personality during last season’s playoffs, but this series promises to dive even deeper, showing a side of Edwards not everyone has seen.
