The Los Angeles Lakers went on to drop their last two games in a row, bringing their season record to 3-4. Despite LeBron James averaging 37.4 minutes in their last five games, the tide has yet to be changed. And even after shelling out huge contracts to various players this offseason, this ex-All-Star believes the Lakers need a spark from their other star.
The other star is Anthony Davis. On a recent podcast, this former star went on to compare Anthony Davis to shades of Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen while breaking down what the Lakers need from him.

Apart from his last game against Miami, Anthony Davis has had one strong outing after another. He has had 20+ point games in his last five outings. Yet the team hasn’t been able to finish off games. And that is after LeBron James has been pouring it in even at 38, averaging 25.9 PPG. Seeing as this is LBJ’s 21st year in the league, many believe that we might finally see AD take over as the first option on the team, and allow James to reduce his minutes on the court to maximize playoff efficiency.
But still, the Lakers seem to be struggling at the start of this season. And Gilbert Arenas breaks down what the team needs from Anthony Davis to turn things around. Arenas spoke about Davis on a recent episode of Gil?s Arena.
He compared Davis to the Chicago Bulls legends and what they brought to the team. Arenas said, ?Defensively, he is consistent. That?s what he does. We want it to be more offensively.?
?I know you wanna play defense, that?s cool. But we need you more offensively. We need you more like Michael Jordan, than Scottie Pippen style. We need you more Michael Jordan style, we need you to be more 24 to 30 type of dude every single night.?
Breaking down what Arenas said, Anthony Davis needs to take on more load on the offensive end of the floor instead of just defense.

Davis has been averaging 23.9 PPG, 12 RPG, and 3.3 BPG this season. So, there isn?t much that Davis has not been doing for the team. Yet, Arenas and the rest of the hosts believe that AD should be doing more offensively.
And if last season has been any evidence, things do turn out for the better when Davis becomes the primary option for the team on offense. Let?s see if the Lakers run the ball through him more offensively.
