Despite dealing with multiple injuries, Luka Doncic has given it his all in these playoffs. Playing through knee soreness, ankle sprains, and back issues, he has hardly gotten any time to recover from the fatigue. However, Luka finally got a chance to relax after he led the Mavs to a blowout victory against the Wolves and booked his spot in the NBA Finals. Celebrating the victory and looking forward to the one-week rest before he has to play again, Luka decided to enjoy a beverage with his father Sasa Doncic after the game. But the superstar was immediately disciplined by a familiar face, leaving the NBA World in shambles.

Standing in the locker room, Luka was spotted with his father holding a can of beer and enjoying the win. Then, Mavs VP of Basketball Operations Michael Finley arrived on the scene and nonchalantly took the can from Luka’s hand before dapping up his father.

At first, it looked like Finley just wanted to take a sip and celebrate the victory with Luka. Instead, leading to a hilarious moment, Finley left with the can without even saying anything to Luka, leaving him confused. Maybe that’s the rapport the two share behind the scenes or maybe Finley was not ready to see Luka celebrate too early and wanted to teach him an important lesson.

Over the years, Luka has often been criticized by the media and fans for not taking care of his fitness during the off-season. Just three years ago, an image of Doncic smoking Hookah went viral on social media, garnering him the name “Hookah Doncic”. Knowing what’s at stake, it is possible that Finley wanted Luka to stay focused on the goal and keep the festivities on hold for a few more days.

After the interaction was pointed out by former ESPN employee Rachel Nichols, fans flooded social media with some hilarious reactions to the incident. Comparing it to the famous movie ‘Creed’ where Michael B. Meanwhile, another fan claimed that Michael Finley will only let Luka drink a beer after he wins four more games and lifts the Championship, hence taking the can from his hand tonight.

One netizen was just shocked at how Finley could do that to Luka after what he has done for this franchise. Then, as a superstar and face of the team, the fan claimed that Luka should ask the VP to bring him another can of beer.

And this fan couldn’t hold back his amusement after watching Luka’s “priceless” reaction when Finley took his can and left. Starting with confusion and leading to a shrug after realizing what had happened, Luka made the moment even more hilarious.

However, this fan sided with what Finley did and claimed that the job is not over yet so there is no reason to celebrate.

Although the Mavs have gone past the Wolves and conquered the West, they still need to win one more series to reach the mountaintop. And that’s when Luka will finally be able to pop the champagne and enjoy his victory in peace.
