Are Warriors fans true supporters if they resell Klay's tribute hats for a quick buck?

Just a day after gaining ‘the reputation’ as one of the most loyal fanbases in the league, Dub Nation threw it all away. The Golden State Warriors management created a blockbuster event out of Klay Thompson‘s return to Chase Center as a Maverick. From the tribute video to Captain’s hat giveaways, it was a wholesome occasion. Most importantly, fans made it further emotional with their rousing cheers for the ace shooter. However, as everyone wanted to etch that day in history, a few Dubs fans left everyone in disbelief… badly.

Tuesday night wasn’t just another homecoming tribute that we’ve seen in the past. Even the NBA legend, Charles Barkley, admitted that he hadn’t seen anything like that before. Usually, home fans boo a player when they switch teams. For instance, the OKC fans after KD moved to the Warriors and the Celts fans after Kai moved to the Nets. However, in Klay’s case, it was completely different.

All seemed completely invested. Even visuals of fans wiping their tears caught our eyes! Stephen Curry, speaking of the fans’ love, said “He was happy and that I think he did his little shoulder shrug, he’s like, ‘Alright, let’s go.’ So, that was very very cool moment.” On top of it, the game went down to the wire and fans also witnessed Curry’s magic at the end, as he sunk a game-winning dagger.

While the NBA world was still in the hangover, then came the shocking news. SportsCenter dropped an Instagram post where it displayed many Warriors fans listing their giveaway Captain’s hats on reselling platforms. The price set for the hat varied from about $100 to $300! It was truly a heartbreaking sight for a loyal Warriors fan. Besides, the rest of the NBA world had a lot to say.

After Klay Thompson disrespect, Warriors fanbase labeled: “Not real fans”

The first reaction to the news was that the NBA fans didn’t recognize them as loyal fans. A fan wrote, These the new Chase fans not the Oakland Coliseum loyal.” Following the 2019 heartbreak, GSW moved to San Francisco to the new home of Chase Center, breaking the fans’ hearts in Oakland. Not to forget, Stephen Curry & Co. reached 5 finals and won 3 championships in Oakland Arena.

Above all, the management took this call after playing 48 years of basketball in the Land of Oaks. So, it’s natural for the rest of hoops community to think that the new Chase Center fans lack the essential loyalty. Another fan further added to the narrative, writing, People selling those are not real fans” If they are not real fans, then what are they?

Have an interesting take?

This fan has an answer. They wrote, Bandwagon fans irk me.” This is one of the many labels that the Warriors have received over the last decade. ‘Bandwagon fans’ are a section of those individuals who started backing the Dubs after their domination and widespread popularity in the league. To be precise, after Kevin Durant joined the franchise. After Steve Kerr took the coaching job, dealing with the core trio, they looked absolutely lethal. In fact, we can even say this team ruined LeBron James‘ championship count thrice!

Another fan came to a nasty conclusion, writing, Warriors fans don’t really love him,” dropping a hammer on Klay Thompson. To be honest, that’s incorrect. Tuesday night’s game highlights are the proof, in case you missed it. It’s almost impossible to witness a home team cheering for an opponent. Fans even erupted for every three-pointer that China Klay splashed at the Chase Center on that night.

However, it could be true, as another netizen wrote, That prob covers the cost of a seat in the nosebleeds to that game.” Fans’ love for the Klay may not have been false, but they might’ve listed the hat to recover their ticket cost. What do you think? Let us know below.
