The Season Opener between the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns has a lot of storylines. They have franchise rivals, having been among the top contenders for the last three years or so. While the Warriors have had an almost decade-long supremacy, the Booker-led Suns have managed to have their say. The Booker-Curry showdown is itself a blockbuster one. Chris Paul will play against the team that he helped lift for the last three years. However, one storyline that is dominating the scene is KD’s return in front of the Warriors fans.

During this build-up, Kevin Durant’s comments have suggested a huge love for the Dubs fans. That’s why he wishes for the ultimate honor. A fellow Forward also approves of these thoughts.

With the Warriors, KD won two titles and he was arguably the most dominant player on the team. It was because of him that the Warriors were able to counter LeBron James. Who can forget the pair of Game 3 daggers in back-to-back Finals?

These two championships wouldn’t have been possible without Durant. And back-to-back titles surely make for their jersey to be retired. Then, of course, KD wasn’t also winning a championship without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. The trio that denied him during the wild 2016 Playoffs. This is when KD must have felt that he was better off with Curry and Co.

Anyway, before the aforementioned season-opening game, Durant presented his desire to have his name up in the Warriors’ rafters. And Jayson Tatum co-signs that thought. Taking to X, he thought it was obvious that the Dubs would retire his #35 jersey. As per Tatum, they will obviously retire Curry’s #30, Thompson’s #11, Green’s #23, and Iguodala’s #9.

The Forward who has four All-Star appearances and a Finals appearance with the Celtics can also see his #0 retired. At any rate, his take on the Warriors’ players saw massive approval.

The Warriors will retire a lot of numbers in a decade or so, considering they have created one of the most dominant teams of the 2010s.
