The Los Angeles Lakers don’t have a core that can make errors. That’s not what I am saying, but that’s something LeBron James has been pretty vocal about. “We don’t have room for such errors,” he publicly claimed after losing to the Clippers on Monday. It’s evident that the team needs something to shake things up. The roster feels a bit stale except, of course, Dorian Finney-Smith’s arrival. But, that won’t be enough. In less than a week or so, the trade market will shut down and now is the time for Rob Pelinka to hit the jackpot. Where’s it though?
It’s Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers who could become the next big thing for Rob Pelinka’s team. Now, you may say, “But Turner is playing for his team.” Yes, he is. But rumors suggest the Pacers might be willing to trade him. The LA Lakers insider, Jovan Buha addressed the talk of the town. Buha hinted at some behind-the-scenes buzz on his YouTube channel. He revealed he’s heard “a little bit of chatter” about the Pacers possibly trading Turner.
“In terms of Turner and him potentially if he’s available it would be more so because of Indiana and the contract situation,” Buha noted. “And not so much about them. Because Indiana is not really a team that tanks or looks to sell off players. But that could be an exception just based on his contract situation in the future,”

Buha suggested that the Pacers might trade Turner due to his contract situation. He will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. According to Spotrac, Turner signed a two-year extension worth $40.9 million before the 2023-24 season. He is set to earn $19.9 million in 2024-25. The deal also added $17.1 million to his 2022-23 salary, bumping his earnings to around $35.1 million that year.
So, if Myles Turner is truly to be up on the trade market, what is that supposed to mean for the Lakers and their GM Rob Pelinka? Well, the math is simple: aim for the big guy. The insider shed some light on how the 28-year-old center could be a perfect fit for the team.
Amidst the pressure mounting on Pelinka from within the team, the Indiana Pacers star’s current situation could be a boon for the Purple and Gold. And well, the Lakers front office would be on the wrong side if they chose to not explore the possibilities now!
Rob Pelinka should aim for Myles Turner as pressure continues to develop for a better roster
“If Myles Turner is available I think, if you’re the Lakers you have to go and get him,” Jovan Buha recommended. “Because he just fits perfectly next to AD on both sides of the floor. He spaces the floor and he’s a rim protector. That would be the ideal, even I’d say over Walker Kessler.” He added: “Like Kessler, the age and contract puts him in a different stratosphere. But in terms of actual fit, I think Myles Turner is the best two-way fit among all of the potentially realistic big-man options.”

Rob Pelinka has desperately tried to sign the Utah Jazz star Walker Kessler to solidify the team’s defense. He would be a good match alongside Anthony Davis. Meanwhile, the proposed trade package would also include Rui Hachimura, who would contribute to the Lakers’ depth while benefiting the Jazz as they focus on developing their young core. But with Myles Turner, Rob Pelinka could bring a greater force on the court. A better fit for the team and AD. With an average of 15.4 ppg and a 48.3 FG%, the Pacers center seems to be a promising candidate for Pelinka and Co.

Meanwhile, The Brow has joined hands with LeBron James for reinforcements before the trade deadline. Both hoopers aren’t happy with the current depth of the roster. Bron has already cleared that they don’t have the build to make errors and that only near-perfect basketball can save them from falling apart in the season. In fact, JJ Redick has also shed some light on how not having a better roster affects them. “It just goes back to not having a large margin of error, and I think our group is, if a guy is out of the rotation, there’s an exponential effect to that,” Redick said.

Rob Pelinka has one task, and that is to find the right names for his stale roster. His team wants nothing more than depth in the team. And now that options are available with Myles Turner possibly being a contender in the trade market. As the saying goes: “Hit the rod while it’s hot.” It’s a now-or-never situation for the GM. Do you think he’ll make a move?
