The F1 Miami Grand Prix event saw Lando Norris securing his first-ever win. While initially occupying the 6 position, he managed to move up the ladder after a much-needed pit stop. Max Verstappen had taken his pit stop during Lap 24. That, combined with Norris receiving a free stop after Logan Sargeant’s crash, gave him the advantage. After finishing at the top, people were quick to react to the Belgian’s feat. Among the people cheering for the new champion was Jimmy Butler, the fanboy.
Taking to his official Instagram account, the 34-year-old small forward highlighted Lando Norris’ win by reposting the official highlight by F1. He wrote a caption alongside it, saying, “@landonorris I called this s***”. If people wanted an explanation, all they needed to do was go to Butler’s next story, in which he highlighted a recent video of himself sending his support out to Norris during a Q&A session.
When asked if he had any ‘Hot Takes’ for the race, Jimmy Butler simply said, “I just want Lando to win every time”. JB has seldom shied away from highlighting his praise for the young driver. Before the commencement of the race, he was captured being in attendance and donning the same orange colors in support of Lando.

When he was inquired about his love for the F1 speedster, Butler replied, “That’s who I aspire to be. He’s great, he’s young, he’s a little bit attractive, and so I think it’s good to be him right now.” Lando Norris had an unfortunate mishap yesterday after he crashed quite early in the qualifying race. Despite this, Butler took to his IG and expressed his confidence by highlighting his T-shirt while acting as a bartender for several guests.

Lando Norris’ driving skills are the reason Jimmy Butler would never agree to do another ‘Hot Lap’!
The friendship between Jimmy Butler and Lando Norris first came to the spotlight back in 2019, at the Canadian GP. The then 19-year-old racer had invited the NBA player to do a ‘Hot Lap’ alongside him in the car. Before commencing, Butler made it clear that he didn’t want his counterpart to go fast. Either Norris didn’t choose to hear him or he probably didn’t know what ‘slow’ was! Either way, the speed that the racer picked up had JB screaming things from “No no no no” to “Oh, you’re driving driving”. Clutching his hand to his chest, he was probably waiting for this experience to be over.
Almost 5 years later, that ‘hot lap’ continues to haunt the Miami Heat star. In a recent interview, when asked if he would be willing to engage in a similar action again, Butler clearly stated “No for the hot lap. For certain no for the hot lap.” His aversion to great speeds is what’s stopped him from getting inside an F1 car. “[Lando] does, and I think that’s why I think I lied to you. My name is really not Lando, it’s Jimmy. So that’s probably why I don’t get in these cars”.

The current year’s event may not have played out in favor of Max Verstappen. However, it did help reaffirm Jimmy Butler’s faith in one of his favorite drivers, with the hope that more success will follow him in the future.
