If someone predicted Jimmy Butler and Bradley Beal would have the same story in the trade window, they’d be bluffing. No matter how rocky their respective boats are, the story leading up to the tumultuous situation is a bit different. The distaste between Jimmy and the Heat is mutual. On the other hand, there’s no public confrontation, but a Cold War situation is in progress in Phoenix with Beal. There are still two weeks till the trade deadline closes and there is still hope for the two to get out of the sticky situation they’re in.
Among the multiple probabilities surrounding Beal, one was shared on the Run It Back show. Player-turned-analyst Lou Williams posed a hypothetical situation that was on top of his head. “Can you imagine the season that the Memphis Grizzlies are having and you can have an opportunity to add a Bradley Beal to that?” the former guard said. He quickly clarified that this wasn’t a rumor but just his imagination of Beal fitting into the current Grizzlies squad.
But would the Suns star even agree to such a move? That was the question his co-host, Michelle Beadle, wondered. Lou confidently responded that Beal would likely say yes to any move as Phoenix is struggling this season again so leaving now would be the wise choice. Moreover, the 38-year-old explained, “Bradley Beal is a one A guy. He needs the ball in his hand and he knows and everybody else knows he can go out and get you 25, 30 points a night being your lead guy.” Since his role with the Suns hasn’t been the same, his numbers have dropped. However, Lou emphasized that Beal still has the ability to put up those big numbers when needed.

“He can wheel you to a lot of wins. He can put you in a position,” Lou added. “Now, he’s in a position where in his career he’s gonna have to be the big B side to somebody. He’s probably not gonna get another opportunity to be that A guy. So C just isn’t gonna work like that’s out, C is out. It doesn’t work well for him. Put him with somebody like a job around one of these young guys that can propel them to wins.”
The ex-Lakers star further chalked out which side would be the best fit for Beal. Given his 31 years of age and the decline in his numbers, Lou believes Beal wouldn’t be an A-level player on any team anymore. His role as a C-level player clearly hasn’t worked out in Phoenix. So, pairing him with a star player and making Beal the B guy would be a more suitable fit. And who could be a better fit than Ja Morant this season? But hold on, what about the clause that had supposedly made the trading situation complicated for Phoenix? Well, a possible solution for that has emerged as well.

Bradley Beal could make adjustments to his contract that could benefit Jimmy Butler
There has been long-standing speculation linking Jimmy Butler to the Suns. While the franchise is eager to bring the Heat star on board, the main obstacle has been Bradley Beal’s no-trade clause, which prevents the Suns from trading him unless, of course, he agrees to waive it. Just when it seemed like the chances of a Jimmy move were fading, new optimism surfaced.

Fred Katz of The Athletic reported that Beal could, after all, waive the clause. But there’s a condition, it must be for the right situation. It has been made clear that the Suns have not yet approached Beal for a trade, but if the opportunity arises to join a winning team, there would be no reason for Beal not to waive the clause and jump on that boat to escape.
The decision could be a game-changer, not just for Beal but also for Jimmy, who has been reportedly prioritizing this move while facing his challenges in Miami. With the trade deadline rapidly approaching, all eyes will be on where these two veterans find themselves after February 6.
