Can the Sacramento Kings finally break their playoff drought this season? What do you think?

It’s time to reschedule the other tasks to make room for the NBA pre-season, as the wait is almost over. The new season promises to come back with a lot more excitement, especially for the Sacramento Kings. Following their early exit last season due to a defeat to the New Orleans Pelicans in the play-ins, the franchise went into power-up mode in the offseason and acquired a major All-Star piece. So, let’s find out what the Western team will show their fans with DeMar DeRozan in their squad before the regular season begins.

Head-To-Head record

Sacramento Kings vs Golden State Warriors

After the 2024 play-ins, the Kings and Warriors will meet again for their first two preseason games. The Dubs certainly have not forgotten the sour taste of defeat that cost them the post-season tournament. They are expected to do everything to avenge it. Historically, the Warriors might be leading with 217 regular game wins over the Kings’ 195, but their recent matchups have been more neck-to-neck. Both teams won two games each in their last regular season meetings.

The burden on Stephen Curry and Co. will undoubtedly be heavier in the back-to-back games now that the Kings have a new veteran member on their side. To not miss the action-packed games, save the dates and times from now!

Sacramento Kings vs Portland Trail Blazers

After coming back from their on-road journey, the Kings will welcome the Blazers for their third game. While one might underestimate the Portland team for their last few seasons of unimpressive stints, they actually hold a better record against the Kings. In the 229 regular season games the two teams have met, the Blazers won 141 games. So, the Blazers might be able to turn the tide on October 13.

Sacramento Kings vs Utah Jazz

Next up for the Kings will be facing the Jazz. Much like the Blazers, the Utah franchise has not shown a lot of potential in the past couple of years. In fact, last season when the Kings faced them thrice, the Jazz couldn’t snatch even a single win. However, when it comes to the overall record, the Jazz have a lead of 118-90. This fixture could be more of an advantage for the Kings but a tough Lauri Markkanen test awaits.

Sacramento Kings vs LA Clippers

The Kings’ last target will be the Clippers. This is another key match that the Sacramento supporters would not want to miss. The two teams had thrilling battles in the last regular season, with both bagging two wins each. However, this time the Clips will be without Paul George, which could be a disadvantage for them as the Kings will have a stronger roster compared to theirs. Even in the past, they recorded 124 wins while the Clippers lagged behind at 105 regular season wins.

Sacramento Kings’ possible roster

The Sacramento Kings will likely include their newly acquired ace, DeMar DeRozan, in their starting lineup besides the obvious choices. While the former Bull and Keegan Murray will look after the offense, the back-court will be handled by the talented guards De’Aaron Fox and Kevin Huerter. And as usual, Domantas Sabonis can be spotted at every corner of the court scoring massive numbers and grabbing insane rebounds.

As per ESPN, Malik Monk could be seen coming off the Kings’ bench to replace DeRozan or Huerter and the offensive center, Trey Lyles, could be switching positions to be on the roster. Alex Len, Devin Carter and Jalen McDaniels could also get some minutes in the preseason games. The players will join the training camp which is officially set to start on October 1. The Kings might have failed to enter the playoffs last season, but this time they look like a real threat. Will the Sabonis-DeRozan combo work? Will the classic threads work as a lucky charm? We’ll find out soon enough.
