We just witnessed a thriller at Madison Square Garden! The Philadelphia 76ers might have pulled off the choke job of the year as they blew a 5-point lead to the New York Knicks in less than a minute. With Game 2 ending at 104-101 in New York’s favor, the crowd at MSG went into a frenzy. Even Knicks legend Carmelo Anthony, who was in attendance to witness the game, could not hold his excitement and celebrated with the crowd.
With 46 seconds to go and the Knicks trailing by 5 points, fans were on the edge of their seats, hoping for a miracle. And their prayer was answered as Jalen Brunson’s three-pointer bounced into the net, cutting the lead down to 2 points. Then, the Knicks’ lockdown defense caused Tyrese Maxey to turn the ball over on the inbounds pass. And Josh Hart found Donte DiVincenzo for a clutch three-pointer, which he overshot. But Isaiah Hartenstein flew out of nowhere to grab the clutch offensive rebound and save the ball for the Knicks to give them one more shot at a comeback.
The ball was right back in DiVencenzo’s hands, at the 3-pointer line. This time around, he did not miss it. Donte knocked the long-range down to get the Knicks a 1-point lead with just 13 seconds remaining on the clock. But this wasn’t it. The excitement continued when Hartenstein pulled off yet another game-changing block on Maxey’s layup attempt. This game-saving sequence caused the crowd to thunder with roars, with the entire MSG appreciating and being blown away by what they had just witnessed.
