It was not pretty, but the Minnesota Timberwolves got it done. With Kevin Durant and Co. looking to level the series in tonight’s Game 2 after their humiliating loss on Saturday, the Timberwolves had a challenging task at hand. However, the Anthony Edwards-led squad held their ground and protected the home court, taking a 2-0 lead against the experienced Suns by beating them 105-93. But it was not Ant-Man who stole the show tonight. Instead, 23-year-old Forward Jaden McDaniels saved the day for Minnesota while Edwards struggled on offense.
With that, the fans scoured the internet and resurfaced an old interview of Edwards acknowledging the importance of McDaniels in their squad. When posed a question about how the Timberwolves would stop Kevin Durant in the playoffs, Ant-Man boasted in the viral video, “They got KD, but we got Jaden McDaniels.” Scoring a game-high 25 points, McDaniels put the league on notice with his dominant performance. He also added 8 rebounds and 3 assists, while shooting an efficient ten of seventeen from the field.

And McDaniels proved Edwards’ comments right tonight. Not only did he dominate on offense, but he held one of the best scorers in NBA history, Kevin Durant, to only 18 points. Jaden’s lockdown defense on The Slim Reaper affected the 2-time Champion’s efficiency as he was limited to shooting a mere 40% from the field. Once again, the Suns could not surpass a double-digit score because of Jaden McDaniels and Co.’s elite defense. Now, that is what fans expect from the best defensive team in the league.

What does tonight’s win say about Minnesota?
Not many would have believed before Game 2 had someone said Minnesota would win by a double-digit difference while Edwards would score only 15 points. But the Timberwolves proved tonight that they are more than just a one-man squad. Shooting a disappointing 3 of 12 from the field, Edwards struggled to get going on offense. However, his teammates were there to support him and pick up the slack. Along with McDaniels, five other Timberwolves stars finished the game with a double-digit score, showing great team effort.
Moreover, their defense held the Suns’ Big 3 to a combined score of only 52 points. Following two blowout wins at home, the Timberwolves will now head to Phoenix for Games 3 and 4. And their confidence will be sky-high ahead of Friday’s game because of the dominance they displayed in the first two encounters.

The Suns have lost Grayson Allen because of an ankle injury and that will severely affect their roster’s depth. Given that the opposition had significant contributions from every starter, things don’t look too good for Kevin Durant and Co.
Do you believe the Timberwolves can go into enemy territory and take a commanding 3-0 lead in the series on Friday?
