Days after embracing fatherhood, Rudy Gobert faced backlashes for the Game 4 loss. The Minnesota Timberwolves went off to a flying start, winning two games in a row. Importantly, the Wolves registered a blowout 80-106 win in Game 2 without Gobert. The French man took off to support his wife on their first baby delivery. While the 4x DPOY immediately returned to the court, the team lost the next two games in an embarrassing fashion. Following that, Stephen A. Smith sided with the NBA world’s decision to drop him for the next game.

A. Smith’s colleague and former NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins tweeted, “Man get Rudy out the game,” during tonight’s game. Moments later, the veteran analyst reposted with a quote that read, “Amen. We saw what they did in Game 2 w/o him.”

The fans and analysts didn’t just ask to drop Rudy Gobert for Game 5 but also trolled him for his underwhelming performance. Tonight, he recorded 11 points with 14 rebounds, hardly making any dent in the Wolves’ scoreboard. On the other hand, Nikola Jokić seemed to have found the spell to stop Gobert from touching the rim. In his 35-minute game time, the French man barely touched the rim after recording a 3-5 FG.

On top of it, Gobert conceded 5 turnovers after getting toyed by Joker near the rim. Notably, he embarrassed himself in a one-on-one against the Denver Nuggets big man where Jokic was all over throughout the battle and forced a traveling foul. Even on the defensive end, the French man couldn’t make much impact. Ironically, he won his 4th DPOY award this season. Speaking of his guarding the Nuggets’ forward, he said, “A lot of them were contested, so if Gordon turns into Kobe Bryant, we just got to live with that.”

All these criticisms will lead down to one question: Will the Wolves include him in the starting lineup for Game 5?

Fans rip apart Rudy Gobert after the Game 4 loss

Following the game, fans were quick to point out the Game 2 win without him. And the results of the last two games with him. Highlighting it, a fan wrote, “Rudy Gobert is a fraud. The best defensive game this team had in this series was the one he was gone for,” along with a pop-culture reference. Notably, the Wolves went viral for their defense in Game 2 when Jaden McDaniels and Nickeil Alexander-Walker locked down Jamal Murray in a full-court play.

Two other fans raised two important questions to Minnesota fans after tonight’s loss. One fan askedGenuine question what does Rudy gobert actually do.” And, the other fan asked“Rudy Gobert is making the Timberwolves worse?!”

The trolls didn’t stop here. Fans have put in their creative ideas to express their disappointment with the big man. However, Gobert seemed to be unfazed by the noise, as he had a calm reaction to the loss. Speaking to the press after the game, he said“We had too many mental mistakes that probably cost us this game.”

Whether the Wolves drop him or not, Gobert should bring out his A-game to shut down his trollers and build his defense reputation from scratch.
