Draymond Green did the obvious when it came down to the best point guard debate. After playing 12 seasons alongside the Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, Green couldn’t think of anyone else. Especially, when the New York Knicks‘ Jalen Brunson has lit the postseason on fire. DrayMagic not only denied JB as the best point guard but also stood adamant in his pick.
In the latest episode of The Draymond Green Show, the 34-year-old answered fans’ questions at the end of the show. One of them asked, “Has Jalen Brunson become the best point guard in the NBA with his performances in the playoffs so far?”. While one could expect a few words of appreciation for JB and switch to their stands justifying their best player, Green switched in a beat. He said, “F**k no. Steph Curry in the NBA dude. Are you crazy… That’s ridiculous.” Well, his bemused reaction to the question didn’t end there.
“Steph Curry is still in the NBA, still great. Come on, stop it. What!? Luka Doncic is also a point guard. Jesus, kidding me? What is wrong with these people,” Green concluded. This isn’t the first time Curry was dragged into the ‘Best PG’ debate. In fact, the Baby-faced Assassin once himself ignited the debate.

During the 2023 offseason, Curry claimed to be the best in the business while appearing on Gil’s Arena. Some agreed to it, some debated over it. While the debate wasn’t moving in any direction, legendary LA Lakers PG Magic Johnson hit back at the Dubs superstar.
Featuring on The Zach Gelb Show, Magic said, “If he got more than five championships if he got more than three Finals MVPs, and three league MVPs, then he’s the greatest,” and several other accolades. While he pretty much ended the debate, Steph still held the upper hand. The 6 ‘2 tall superstar not only won four championships but also revolutionized the game for short players amid the dominance of big men.
Moreover, Knicks leader Jalen Brunson has also come from the same school of basketball. Even JB stood up 6 ‘2 tall while the average height of an NBA player was around 6 ‘6.

Can Jalen Brunson bring the trophy back to MSG?
The last time the Knicks family ever won a championship was in 1973. Since then, the team has been far from even getting close to the NBA Finals. In the last 24 years, the team has won only two playoff series (2013, 2023). However, the dynamics of the team have completely changed. This team could even reach their first Conference Finals since 2000! Currently, they are 2-0 in the semi-final series against the Indiana Pacers.
On the other hand, Jalen Brunson has been putting in some of the best performances in this edition’s playoffs. In the last 8 games, the star has averaged 35.75 ppg., leading the team from the front, offensively. Moreover, in the series against the Phillies, he registered an average of 9 assists per game, striking a balance for the ‘Best PG’ debate.

The star also faced criticisms for the poor FG% he recorded at the start of the postseason. Brunson missed a lot of buckets, recording FG% of 26, 29, and 27 in the first three games, and slowly improved his numbers. Currently, he has an average FG of 49%. The team ran most of the plays with him and designed it for the others to support him.
So, the answer is, that he definitely can. Do you believe in Jalen Brunson? Let us know in the comments below.
