Tuesday night was a strange one in the AAC. The Dallas Mavericks were having a home game, but the life was missing. There was a sense of dread throughout the game. That’s how Luka Doncic’s trade has left the city in vitriol. The security was on high alert. Normalcy tried its best to resume with Patrick Dumont and Nico Harrison returning to their seats. But something was waiting to go wrong and it did. Fans were ejected, signs confiscated, and the team booed. All these could’ve been avoided, had the team not strayed from its path with Doncic. However, there was another way to minimize the flames of contempt. But only if Nico Harrison’s true intentions came to fruition.

No, trading Luka Doncic was always the plan. His time in Dallas was over, running its course as the city remained unaware of the impending doom. However, the doomsday in Dallas could’ve been a bit less harsh if the Mavs landed Giannis Antetokounmpo or Anthony Edwards. That’s the latest revelation in the unwinding twine of the Luka Doncic trade saga.

Gery Woelfel revealed the Bucks and the T’Wolves were presented with the golden opportunity to land Doncic. “According two NBA officials, the Mavs had interactions with at least two other teams besides the Lakers. They claimed the Mavs also had conversations with the Bucks and Timberwolves,” the veteran journalist wrote.

HC Jason Kidd’s former apprentice, Giannis, was a target, but the Bucks issued a hands-off notice despite the Greek’s murky future. Anthony Edwards was the no-brainer piece in any deal involving Doncic. But the franchise decided against it. No matter who stays in power between Alex Rodriguez and Glenn Taylor (yes, arbitration has declared A-Rod the winner, but Taylor can appeal), none of them will be willing enough to concede Ant.

That’s not it. More secrets of the Mavs front office are emerging by the hours. One of them came courtesy of Brian Windhorst and it can upset the Mavs nation even more.

More secrets of the front office decision come to light regarding Luka Doncic trade

It’s been over a week since Luka Doncic’s trade, but with each passing day, new secrets continue to unfold. After the 25-year-old’s move, Mavs owner Patrick Dumont praised him but also supported Harrison’s decision to trade him. Confused? So was Stephen A. Smith, who believed Dumont should have openly accepted that it was his decision instead of trying to play the “good guy.” To this, his co-host Windhorst made an even bigger revelation.

Did the Mavs make a colossal mistake trading Doncic without securing Giannis or Edwards?

“He comes off as a very mild-mannered person,” Windy said on First Take about Dumont. “And this interview that he gave the Dallas Morning News that published on Sunday was fiery. And really more than anything that he said, he kind of implied that Luka sometimes was on vacation. He didn’t say exactly those words, but he referenced that.”

This has been the n number of accusations, the franchise has made against Doncic. Earlier, they hinted at his weight and poor conditioning as the major concerns behind the move, which the guard dismissed. Now, wondering what the Slovenian would have to say about the new allegation.

Although Dumont didn’t say out loud that he made the decision he definitely made it clear he was on board with it. “He basically said, I backed Nico a 100%. And he praised his intellect and he praised the decisions he’s made. And so, you know, he didn’t say he ordered it, but he made it very clear that he tied himself to Nico Harrison and supported Nico Harrison,” the ESPN insider said.

And it wasn’t just the two of them making the call about Doncic’s future, Windy believes head coach Jason Kidd had an equal say in it. “I know that Jason Kidd technically hasn’t done it, but I’m putting those three together,” he added. “I think Patrick Dumont, the governor, Nico Harrison, the general manager and Jason Kidd were on the same page about this and they will go forward together and if there is infamy that comes from this, which is on the table, they will all three wear it and Patrick Dumont made sure to put that on, on Sunday in that interview.”
