The NBA Paris Games presented the San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama with an opportunity for homecoming. The 7-foot-4 big man attracted a huge crowd to the capital city as he took part in several team activities. However, the most important part of Wemabanyama’s home trip was the two matchups against the Indiana Pacers.

Wembanyama and Spurs’ tally for Paris finished at 1-1. They would’ve hoped to grab both wins but after winning the first encounter by 30 points they lost the other game by 30 on Saturday. The Spurs played great in their first game on Thursday but, dipped for Saturday’s game. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst while on the “Brian Windhorst & The Hoop Collective” podcast shared an unusual stat that might have been missed by the eye of many.

Although Wembanyama finished the two games with 50 points, 23 rebounds, eight assists, and six blocks, Windhorst pointed out something. What? You might ask. “The fact that he only had one block when he averaged four. Okay, let’s give him the one and say he had two. Just tells you his activity level wasn’t there. Windhorst stated. Gives a different perspective on Wembanyama’s Paris outing as the big man who averages almost four blocks managed just one in the two games. Which shows that the performance might not have been up to the mark.

Furthermore, Windhorst revealed, “He would probably not admit that. I think he might have been a little under the weather, but not a surprise after all the commitments he had during the week.” Suggesting that even though the Spurs superstar wouldn’t admit he wasn’t at his best given the other activities he had to participate in. Such as a trip to the Eiffel Tower and attending a Champions League game with his teammates might have served as a distraction. Let’s hear it from the man himself how he felt about the two-game series.

While Saturday’s outcome didn’t favor the Spurs as they lost to the Pacers, 136-98. That wasn’t the case on Thursday when the series began. The crowd was on top of their voice cheering for their favorite superstar and he did deliver in the first game scoring 30 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 blocks! However, in the second game, the off-court activities might have taken a toll on the young center, who did end up with 20 points but wasn’t at his best.
