There’s nothing more heartbreaking than losing your shining star. For now, it is the Dallas Mavericks who are trying to swallow the bitter pill of separation. Or rather, it’s the fans trying to move on from losing Luka Doncic to the Lakers. The fandom is angry… really angry. The city seems to have adorned itself in protests and placards against Nico Harrison. The GM isn’t in a particularly good position after the colossal trade.
On Friday, ESPN Insider, Tim MacMahon reported some truly unfortunate turns of events among the fans towards the GM. He informed the audience: “Nico Harrison has been subjected to death threats. There have been racial epithets included in some of those. Certainly, security’s going to be beefed up… Nico Harrison is not going to be in his normal seat in the stands. There’s no reason to subject him to that kind of security risk.”
This news is undoubtedly concerning for the franchise and of course, for the GM. However, Dallas insider Grant Afseth has some updates on the same. Only this time, it’s the Police Officials who’ve given insights. Afseth reported: “Dallas Police Department’s Public Information Officer tells me, “There are no known threats at this time,” directed at Mavericks GM Nico Harrison.” Well, this update comes after Tim MacMahon’s “death threat” claims on Friday.

Meanwhile, further reports claim that the Dallas Police Department is being cautious about the angry fans. They are surely monitoring the security concerns and claims of Nico Harrison. At the same time, protecting the arena and the neighborhood is on the priority list too.
Amid security threats to Nico Harrison, DPD enforces strict measures before Saturday’s clash
The Dallas Mavericks are facing the Houston Rockets on Saturday at the American Airlines Center. However, given the current heat in the city following Luka Doncic’s departure, the Police Department has been extra alert lately. Meanwhile, the reported death threats for Nico Harrison have forced the security department to take some extreme measures ahead of the game. NBA reporters have informed that the DPD has barricaded the AAC in case fan-planned protestors try to disrupt the game.
Meanwhile, the DPD has deployed numerous police officers around the arena to stay cautious and prevent any potential incidents.“We will continue to remain vigilant and visible. We encourage people to call 911 if they see anything suspicious or out of the norm. As always, it is our top priority to maintain the safety of the people who live, work, and visit our city,” DPD told WFAA.
