One of the biggest talking points surrounding the Golden State Warriors recently has been Draymond Green. More specifically, an update on his return after striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face, getting an indefinite suspension, and having counseling sessions. A week ago, though, the NBA cleared him to play, stating that his counseling sessions “will continue throughout the season.” His time on the bench, on the other hand? After being suspended for 12 games and declared “Out” for the Chicago Bulls clash, Draymond Green’s return has finally become “Questionable.”

The Golden State Warriors will head to the Fiserv Forum on January 13 for their first clash against the Milwaukee Bucks this season. The two teams, who were widely considered favorites for the 2024 NBA championship, have had contrasting storylines coming into this game. Although the Bucks are currently keeping up with their preseason hype, the Warriors haven’t been able to do the same. And one of the reasons for that is the string of suspensions for their star forward, Draymond Green

Despite the four-time NBA All-Star having to sit out the Warriors’ latest game, they managed to gain an impressive victory over the Chicago Bulls, putting a wind in their sails. However, as the focus shifts to the game against the Bucks, the attention is on Draymond Green’s questionable status, which is marked as “day-to-day: Reconditioning,” as per ESPN. Considering his defensive prowess and his passing ability, there is a possibility that if he returns to the play, it would change the game for the Warriors.

Green’s skill set and his being in charge of things on the court are pivotal for team prosperity. However, as the Warriors aim to capitalize on their recent victory and carry the momentum into the Bucks showdown, the decision on Green’s participation looms large. This game-time call could swing the fortunes of the team significantly. On the contrary, in line with the Bucks, their roster looks relatively unscathed, as only Jae Crowder suffers from a left adductor injury.

This difference in the injury reports only adds an interesting aspect to an already enticing match-up. So, what could the lineups of the two teams potentially look like?

Warriors’ struggles and Bucks’ advantage set the stage for NBA showdown

A closer look at the Golden State Warriors injury report reveals a difficult situation. The injuries to Gary Payton II’s hamstring strain, Chris Paul’s hand fracture, and Moses Moody’s calf contusion increase the lineup struggles for the Warriors. Coach Kerr will likely go with the starting five of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Brandin Podziemski, Jonathan Kuminga, and Trayce Jackson-Davis.

On the Bucks’ side, their injury report seems more favorable than that of the Dubs, as only Jae Crowder is out. The Bucks have all the major stars available for their lineup, including Damian Lillard, Malik Beasley, Khris Middleton, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Brook Lopez.
