The Boston Celtics are about to face the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for two back-to-back games. This is the third time this season that both the teams are meeting, the last time the Pacers closed the Celtics out 122-112. With the Celtics heading over to Indiana, their star center Kristaps Porzingis‘ availability has been in question. Boston has been playing him very cautiously given his history with foot injuries.
However, before the matchup, there is a major update on the 28-year-old center’s playing status. Porzingis will probably make an appearance against the Pacers, unlike the last time. According to Brian Rob’s post on Twitter, “Clean injury report tonight for the Celtics against the Pacers. Al Horford is back and Kristaps Porzingis won’t be sitting out the second half of the back-to-back.”

Porzingis has been suffering ankle and calf injuries this whole season. He missed out on the game with the Toronto Raptors on December 29th due to a calf strain and subsequently; they have not held him out due to it being rest days for the Celtics. Despite that, it is interesting to look at his record against the Pacers before they head out to battle them for two games straight.

The Latvian has faced off against the Indiana Pacers 18 times before this. Porzingis has an impressive average of 20.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks against them. This is specifically why he will be a crucial part of the match-up against them. The last time he was on the sidelines due to a calf strain was when the Pacers defeated the Celtics in the quarterfinals of the In-season tournament.
In Contrast, the Pacers are a 4th seed in the East en route to their 8th straight victory. Confidence is in the Indiana camp, and this two-game stint is going to be crucial for both teams regardless of the results. Who do you think will win the games?
