Bryce James, the youngest son of Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James, seems to be heading only up! While his elder brother is currently attempting to be considered as a worthwhile nominee for the NBA draft, the 16-year-old is making waves through his high school basketball team. If there was any doubt earlier about just how capable the young prodigy is, then all they need to do is catch a glimpse of this recent update.

Overtime’s official Instagram account uploaded a post featuring Bryce representing his high school, Sierra Canyon, in the ongoing ‘Nike Elite Youth Basketball League’ tournament. During the matchup, the player proceeded to drop over 4 three-pointers! Despite a strong defense by the rival team attempting to keep him at bay, there was no hesitance on Bryce’s face as he kept a safe distance from the hoop but continued to make shots effortlessly from behind the paint. While LeBron James had been present for the previous game, he unfortunately wasn’t available during the recent matchup. However, it still didn’t stop him from leaving a like on the post celebrating his son’s feat.

No sooner had the post gone viral, than reactions from people started to descend onto the comments section. One commenter went a step ahead to write, “This one ain’t scared to shoot”. Through this remark, he ended up praising Bryce but at the expense of his brother, Bronny.

Bronny James does not carry an excellent reputation when the talk is about his shooting capabilities. During the 25 games he played for the USC Trojans, the young player only secured an average of 1.6-4.5 field goals, 0.6-2.4 three-pointers, and 0.9-1.4 free throws.

In six of those games, he could not successfully put up even a single field goal. With Bryce exceeding shooting capabilities, the commenter believed that his stat may end up being better than Bronny in the future.

Another individual took to the comments section to send out his praise. He proceeded to write that, unlike his father and elder brother, “Bryce don’t get no hype for how good he is”.

Given that he is still in high school, Bryce has a long way to go before he can enter the national spotlight. Furthermore, when he faces tougher competition during the next stages of his basketball career, only then people will get a measure of just how good the player is. While he may not receive hype from others, however, LeBron James makes it his mission to send out praise to his son whenever he can.

Admiring just how effortlessly he kept making the shots, one social media user felt that Bryce is downright “the second coming of Lebron”.

Even though he was playing in his 21 NBA season while being the ripe age of 39, LeBron James displayed some of his best shooting in this tournament. During the regular season games, he shot an average of 9.6-17.9 (54%) field goals, 2.1-5.1 (41%) three-pointers, and 4.3-5.7 (75%) free throws. If Bryce continues on the same trajectory in which he is at the moment, then he can successfully reach the same threshold established by his father.

One individual appreciated the work that Bryce was putting in during this Amateur Athletic Association game. At the same time, however, he expressed, “Hope he just takes his time to develop and become better”.

Expectations were high upon Bryce’s son, Bronny, when he went to the University of South Carolina. However, after the player averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 25 games, questions were raised on whether he was ready to head to the NBA. In fact, some analysts even suggested that Bronny should not act in haste, that it would be better for him to devote his time towards playing for a lower basketball league in order to improve his capabilities. Bronny chose to ignore this and submitted his name for the NBA Draft barely a few weeks ago. Bryce still has a few years under his hands before he has to give his name for the draft. If he wants, he can even choose to delay his entry into the NBA until he improves.

Overall, the reaction of NBA fans was positive towards Bryce James. Even if he was placed on the same comparison scale as his father, one of the greatest basketball players of the modern generation, the 16-year-old still managed to live up to expectations.
