The 2024 NBA Draft does not hold any major star power. Apart from a few of the top picks, only one name shines the most, Bronny James. After spending just one year as a Trojan, Bronny declared for the NBA draft earlier this year. While Bronny’s freshman numbers aren’t so good to look at when considering him as a prospect, scouts will see a lot of potential in him. However, there are pros and cons of landing Bronny from this year’s draft.

Paul George shared his thoughts on Bronny on his podcast recently. For context, Bronny’s performance in the Draft Combine caught a lot of attention. Not to mention his vertical, which was the fourth highest among all. From not having enough of a resume to be considered a pick to teams monitoring the teen, Bronny is one of the players to look out for. Though the fear of being a draft bust is what keeping many GMs from considering him. “But I think if an organization grabs him and he hits like, you’re a genius. You drafted LeBron’s son, he has all the intangibles, you know he’s a good kid, you know he’s a hard worker, you know he’s a high-level IQ player like you hit. I think it’s just, the society of it all, the people, someone doesn’t wanna be that person to say they selected Bronny.”, said PG.

Bronny’s hype in this year’s draft has picked its pace but GMs will evaluate to a great extent before picking the teen. He’s only played a year in college, having averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. Clearly, there’s not enough data on the teen to be considered for the Draft by GMs apart from his NBA potential and his recent Draft Combine workout. This is one of the reasons why PG13 believes GMs to pass on the 19-year-old.

The teen’s defense speaks volumes as well. He’s a great on-ball defender and can keep the guards away from their spots. There is a lot of room for improvement, but initially, Bronny’s name can be listed before quite a few players. However, the pressure of drafting James’ son based on his given resume does alarm teams knowing that he could potentially come out to be a draft bust or a great future asset indeed. Apart from what Bronny provides, GMs can also consider what else comes with adding Bronny to the roster.

Why should teams consider Bronny James in the 2024 Draft?

There are a lot of factors in which Bronny excels. The teen is a solid defender and a reliable shooter. While he may not be the first priority as a shooter, he can still be a great backup shooter. Of course, Bronny’s transition from his middle school to high school ball was quite smooth. It just tells how well he can adapt to the pace. Teams can expect his growth to play out similarly in the NBA.

For starters, Bronny will be 20 years old by the time he makes his debut. He is a young individual who can improve and adapt pretty quickly. He has great shooting fundamentals, however his consistency may be a problem. Nevertheless, that can also worked on with a continuous understanding of the pace of the game. With that, Bronny is also a great defender, hustling on both ends of the floor. This is all that teams can expect from the teen.

LeBron James shared his desire to play with his son a long time ago. James has the chance to exercise his player option this summer, though it all depends on where Bronny lands. If teams can afford to bring in LeBron James for a one-year deal while drafting Bronny, they would not miss out on the option. It will result in sold-out crowds, the historic father-son duo, and the presence of one of the greatest to ever touch the ball. Yes, drafting Bronny will give a lot in return. It will be interesting to see which team apart from the Lakers try to land Bronny.

Which team do you want to see Bronny play for? Let us know in the comments.
