There’s a sense of palpable excitement and intrigue, with the All-Star Weekend less than a week away. The All-Star Weekend will take place from February 16 to February 18, with the All-Star game slated for the latter date. However, one of the most anticipated events of this year’s spectacle isn’t the All-Star game, but the very first NBA vs WNBA 3-Point Contest. Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu will participate in the event.

Fans are making the rounds, predicting winners, just like Kyrie Irving! He’s no different and has a winner set in his mind – Sabrina Ionescu. He picked her over Curry in a recent interview, where he said, “I’m pulling for Sabrina. No disrespect to you, Steph. I love you big bro, but at the same time, she got the record. She’s coming to defend her title. You’re (Steph) coming to the competitive table to see if you can win. It’s going to be interesting.”

Both Curry and Ionescu will be driven not only by their desire to outperform each other but also by their commitment to charitable causes. Steph’s Eat.Learn.Play Foundation as well as Ionescu’s SI20 foundation will receive donations from the NBA and WNBA. Additionally, each three-pointer made will activate a set donation amount from State Farm to the NBA Foundation, which supports economic empowerment in the black community. Regular three-pointers made will be valued at $1,000. Whereas, the money-ball shots will be valued at $2,000. Moreover, the “Starry Range Ball” (29 feet away from the basket) will be valued at $3,000.

The anticipation surrounding “Steph vs Sabrina” has reached a fever pitch, as two of the greatest shooters from their respective leagues face each other. But how did this one-of-a-kind event come to fruition?

During the 2023 WNBA All-Star Weekend, Sabrina Ionescu shattered the 3-Point Contest record (both NBA and WNBA), as she recorded 37 points from a possible 40 in the final round. After her incredible performance, Ionescu called out Steph Curry for a straight shoot-out to finally settle the debate of the greatest shooter. Curry acknowledged Ionescu’s challenge during a game against the Sacramento Kings on 25th January.

Ionescu officially accepted the challenge on social media. In the contest, Steph will shoot from the NBA’s 3-point line and with an NBA ball. Meanwhile, Ionescu will shoot from the WNBA 3-point line, and with a WNBA ball. However, Ionescu stated that she would shoot from the NBA 3-point line through her X handle. She wrote, “I’ll shoot from the NBA line… LETS GET IT!!!!!!!”
