Sabrina Ionescu has just revealed that she’s already beaten 2x three-point contest champion on a one-on-one. Joining the NBA Radio, the young Liberty guard said that the pair had a friendly HORSE game once. Going back-to-back at half-court shots, Steph apparently missed at four and Ionescu won the game.

She already has bragging rights over Curry! And the 2x All-Star is determined to get the win. Not to mention that she got more hours of sleep too, considering Steph played 35 minutes yesterday against the Utah Jazz.

Chef Curry’s three-point shooting prowess is not unknown to the larger public. He has already got the recognition twice, in 2015 and 2021. Add the fact that he’s the All-Time leader in three points made in the NBA. Yet, Ionescu is no less in the accolades and skills department herself. Graduating from Oregon, the No. 1 draft pick of 2020 broke Steph’s record of 31 points during the WNBA 3-point contest last year.

She hit 37 of the possible 40 shots and, at one point, hit 20 shots consecutively! Sabrina Ionescu might be 10 years behind Curry, but her work ethic and dedication to the sport can give even the NBA greats a run for their money. Arriving at the gym, it’s exactly the sight that greeted Steph.

It’s no wonder that his close friend and fellow Splash Brother chose Ionescu as his pick for the winner of the three-point contest.

Klay goes with Sabrina Ionescu and Steph is determined to prove he chose the wrong side

Ahead of the All-Star Break, Klay Thompson pledged his allegiance to Ionescu. When asked who his pick was for the first-of-its-kind NBA vs. WNBA 3-point contest, he picked Sabrina. At a moment’s notice. He dubbed her the “Bay Area’s finest,” while reiterating that he would go with his pick “all day”.

Yes, Klay Thompson might be in a shooting slump of his own and he’s been struggling all season. But that hasn’t diminished his competitive spirit one bit. But Steph is not any less competitive. “He knows how ridiculous Sabrina’s record was. So he’s going with the champ; I am the contender. I can’t wait to walk back into the locker room and prove him wrong,” Steph had said in a recent video by the NBA.

Curry further drew attention to the fact that this is exactly why contests like this should continue. Anyway, there is no doubt that it’s a win-win whatever the result may be.
