After his stint in the NBA’s G League Ignite, the Bulls picked Matas Buzelis as the eleventh overall in the 2024 NBA Draft. In the early days of July 2024, it was reported that he had signed a rookie-scale contract worth almost $24 million. As per the terms of his 4-year deal, Matas will be taking home a salary of more than $5 million in his debut year, at $5.1 million.

For the upcoming 2025-26 and 2026-27 seasons, Buzleis is expected to average around $5 million, with 5.4 million in his second year and $5.7 mil in his third year. But the fourth and final year of his deal reveals a solid increment in his salary, projected to be slightly higher than $7.5 million. His contract also states that the last two years will include a club option.

As of now, Matas is the 13th best-paid player on his team this year. Even though it might not seem to be much, the top rookie deal offered in the 2024 draft was worth around $57 million and Buzelis is making almost half of it. While his All-Star defeat might be a blow, Matas is still in the early stages of his career and is expected to rise.
