In his 12-season-long career so far, Damian Lillard has built himself a reputation for his three-point prowess. Not only that, he has been doing it consistently and also has climbed the All-time three-point ladder. Currently, he is in the 5th spot with 2,528 three-pointers and he could further climb until the 2nd spot beating Ray Allen, who has 2,973 3PM. This accolade only leads to a question. Has he ever won a 3-point contest at the All-Star week?
The answer is yes. Lillard has participated in the 3-point contest thrice in his career and has won it once. During the 2023 NBA All-Star week at Salt Lake City, he left no crumbs behind for his competitors, dropping 26 of his 40 attempts.

After winning the contest, Lillard said, “This was a goal of mine because as a shooter, any time you come into a competition like this, you want to win it… I wanted to win at least one time before I was done playing. That’s why I took this one a little more serious, and it just happened that way.”
Before 2023, he has participated twice in 2019 and 2020. And the star has another opportunity to make it two in a row. The league announced the list of players, who are taking part in the 2024 All-Star three-point contest at Indianapolis. None other than Dame Time will spearhead it.
Apart from him, he is accompanied by his new teammate, Malik Beasley, star point guard Jalen Brunson, rising superstar Tyrese Haliburton, Lauri Markkanen, Trae Young, Donovan Mitchell, and Karl-Anthony Towns. Given the names in the contest, it would be a challenge for Lillard to defend his title.

Nevertheless, the Bucks guard has also proved his shooting prowess multiple times in the lead-up to the All-Star break. Let’s take a look at his shooting skills.
Damian Lillard – Clutch shooting
Lillard was dragged into the shooting conversation after he buried the game-winner against the OKC Thunder to win a playoff series. Since then, he consistently tapped his wrist with his index finger whenever he drops a game-winner.
Ahead of the three-point contest, he pulled out a Dame Time celebration as well. With 5 seconds remaining in an overtime contest against the Sacramento Kings, he dropped a three-pointer from the half-court to take a 142-143 win. He announced his participation in the upcoming event with that clutch play.
