“Kick them while they’re down,” said De’Aaron Fox before the Sacramento Kings beat the Warriors for the second time this season. Stephen Curry & Co. are clearly not in the position where they used to be 5 years ago. We can even call them a dynasty franchise for reaching 6 Finals and winning four of them in the last 10 years. However, a ‘Big mistake’ in the late 2010s cost big time for the Bay Area team. Warriors Insider Anthony Slater, revealing the costly miss, opened up on how the opponents feel about the fallen side.
The Dubs had a stellar start to the season with a 12-3 run and now they have dropped down with a 21-22 record. This situation ultimately brings almost everyone down to one question: Is this the Warriors‘ lowest point under Steph? The answer is, No. Slater came across the same question during his latest appearance in the Run it Back show.
Anthony Slater pointed out other periods in Stephen Curry‘s career where the team had struggled. He listed the time when the superstar came off the bench during his rookie season and the devastating time after the 2019 Finals. It was when Kevin Durant departed, Klay Thompson missed two complete seasons, and Curry broke his hand. Slater even called it the “lowest” point and following that he moved to the big blunder that the Warriors front walked into after the 2020 failure.

“The problem was they thought that was going to boost their next era, they got the second overall pick… the problem is they tried to have this two timelines planned and mimic the Spurs basically when they got Kawhi Leonard to ride out the Tim Duncan years. But (the Warriors) just missed in the draft. They got James Wiseman in a draft that had LaMelo Ball and Anthony Edwards,” said Slater. We all know what happened after that. Injury cut short James Wiseman’s stint and ultimately crushed the Warriors’ rebuilding dream.

Above all, Slater implied that this mistake forced the Dubs into the current situation. Now that we know how the Dubs crumbled, let’s find out how the rest of the league perceives it.
17 teams took advantage of Stephen Curry & Co.’s downfall
These 17 teams are nothing but the teams that defeated the Warriors so far this season. The Clippers have the most part in it, defeating the Dubs three times already. If they both qualify for the playoffs and take on each other, then it’s an exciting contest to watch out for. Nevertheless, let’s take a look at how Anthony Slater described these teams’ perception toward the once-great Warriors.

What’s your perspective on:
Did the Warriors' draft blunder seal their fate, or can Curry still lead a comeback?
Have an interesting take?
“The life cycle in the NBA, the young guys coming up and kinda want to beat the old heads that they looked up to and it’s kinda how it is from the team’s perspective too. The Warriors used to be the young team, they took down the Spurs dynasty… Now we are at the point of their life cycle,” said Slater. Moreover, he stressed that it’s “inevitable” for Steph and Draymond Green to escape this situation.
He also added, “How loud especially Draymond was when it was happening. So, people are going to be loud in their response.” Can the Warriors withstand the brutal attack aimed at them? Or will they accept the defeat and crumble? Let us know in the comments below.
