It’s been a month since the jaw-dropping Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis trade. And now the winners and losers of this trade are starting to emerge. It’s clear that the Mavs got the shorter end of the stick after losing AD to injury in his debut for them. But an insider says this may have been the last time AD played for the Mavs this season.
If ESPN’s Shams Charania is to be believed, Mavs fans may have to give up on this season entirely.“It’s very possible that Anthony Davis has played his last game this season for the Mavericks. But I am told he is continuing to go through his rehab with that adductor strain,” said Charania.
He elaborated, “ But there are two very tricky factors at play here on one side with Anthony Davis. This is a soft tissue injury. So to make sure he is a hundred percent and doesn’t risk further re-injury is very important. And on the other side is where the Mavericks will be in the standings. If there is a window for him to return late in the season, if they are still in the playing picture, the playoff picture, then does it make sense to bring him back as an organization?“

But even if Anthony Davis returns, the Mavs still aren’t primed to win a title. Far from it. They’re going through one of the worst injury crises in the league right now. Players like Daniel Gafford, Dereck Lively II, and PJ Washington are battling injuries. Whereas, we know Kyrie Irving won’t feature for the Mavs anytime soon after suffering a torn ACL.
To make matters worse, one of the players who stepped up for the Mavs has a serious injury. And it may require season-ending surgery to fix.
What’s your perspective on:
Did the Mavs make a colossal mistake trading for AD, or is there still hope for redemption?

Injury to Olivier Maxence-Prosper adds to Dallas Mavericks injury woes
Olivier Maxence-Prosper has stepped up for Dallas recently in the absence of their stars. He already started more games this season than he had last season. However, it seems he may join Kai and potentially AD in being out for the season.
Olivier’s season might be over before it even truly took off. The young forward suffered a right wrist injury, and according to ESPN, it’s serious enough to require surgery. If that happens, his year is done—a huge disappointment for a player who was just starting to carve out a role in the Mavericks’ rotation.

With injuries piling up, Olivier had finally begun to see consistent minutes, averaging 5.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 16.3 minutes over his last 24 games. But now, any hopes of building on his rookie season are officially on hold.

While he’s not a cornerstone of the team, Dallas is in such a tough spot that even this setback stings. Their rotation is already stretched thin, and losing any depth at this point is a problem. Mavs fans, the road ahead won’t be easy. And if the latest reports about Anthony Davis have any truth to them… well, let’s just hope Shams got that one wrong.
