By now, the entire NBA community is well aware of the situation in Miami and Phoenix. After all, it’s been ongoing for over a month, with the Suns wanting Jimmy Butler but being restricted by Miami’s refusal to accept an offer of Bradley Beal. The situation has grown increasingly tangled, but the Suns are refusing to back down. So, a third team has now entered the picture which could potentially shake things up.
The team in question is from further east as speculated by ESPN’s Brian Windhorst. On The Hoop Collective podcast, when the much-discussed matter came up, the insider highlighted the involvement of the Chicago Bulls. “What’s more interesting about the Bulls right now is they are absolutely involved in conversations with the Suns involving possible Jimmy Butler situations,” Windy said. He then immediately added, “Not that Jimmy Butler would end in Chicago.” Then how will this work? “They would get involved in the trade,” Windy explained.
Earlier, he mentioned that since the Suns can’t make the trade happen directly, so more teams would likely be involved in the deal. Discussing the potential trade scenario now, Windy stated, “If I’m talking about a three-team trade and Jimmy Butler is on one end and it’s not going to Chicago, we’re talking about Bradley Beal. The Suns could only trade Bradley Beal. We’re dancing around this because I’ve just been burned on aggregation.” But he pointed out one important detail, “The bottom line is that the Bulls and the Suns have talked. The concept of Bradley Beal ending up in Chicago has been discussed.”

So, it’s not Jimmy who would be landing with the Bulls, but the franchise could play a role in helping the Suns make a deal that would allow Miami to send their star to them via the Bulls. Again, that’s not something he guaranteed. “I’m not saying it’s going to happen. I’m not saying it’s close or whatever,” Windy clarified, especially considering Beal’s no-trade clause. But the national reporter also added, “Maybe it’s never going to happen. It’s been discussed.”
Beal’s no-trade clause has complicated the Suns’ situation. But that could have been worked out if Miami had considered acquiring the guard. Beal confirmed that the franchise never approached him about a trade, so that could be a potential hurdle cleared. The Suns sure want to move on from Beal, but not at the cost of disrupting their team’s chemistry, that’s something they made sure of in their last game when Jimmy Butler’s name popped up.
Suns act against fan instigating Bradley Beal with Jimmy Butler mention
On Saturday night, the Suns were leading the Wizards at the Footprint Center. With less than a minute remaining in the final quarter, Beal stepped up to the free throw line for two crucial shots. As the 31-year-old prepared to take his free throws, a Phoenix fan loudly yelled, “Jimmy Butler.” That was enough to break the silence of the court. Fortunately, Beal made both free throws, despite the remark. But soon the attention shifted to the heckler.

Following the free throws, the fan was escorted out by security. It’s believed that Beal’s wife, sitting in the front row, may have alerted security. And they quickly took the extreme step. No matter what’s happening within the locker room, instigating Beal by mentioning Jimmy Butler’s name is something that won’t be tolerated. The night ended with the Suns securing a 119-109 victory with Beal putting up 20 points on the board. But he might not be doing it for much longer.

With the February 6 trade deadline rapidly approaching, the Suns are looking to make the move, but the key to making it happen is getting all the parties involved on board. Whether that will at all be possible remains to be seen in the coming days.
