A game is brewing in the NBA: Guess where Jimmy Butler will land next! It’s an interesting game of course. With 29 teams on the line, who would choose the 35-year-old veteran guard? Several names have been on the list, like the LA Lakers and Golden State Warriors. Meanwhile, Butler reported preferred a few teams like the Mavericks and Rockets, but now his preference has changed. The 6x All-Star guard has his eyes set on the Phoenix Suns. However, there is an obstacle.

NBA reporter Mark Stein’s recent updates on the trade situation will crease Butler’s forehead. The report informed: “Phoenix wants Butler and Butler wants Phoenix — ‘I’ve heard they want him bad,’ one league source says of the Suns — but the obstacles preventing such a swap continue to be considerable. Before Bradley Beal’s obsessively discussed no-trade clause can even come into play, Miami and Phoenix need a third team willing to absorb Beal’s monster contract to emerge.”

Bradley Beal is the name of the obstacle between Jimmy Butler and the Suns. The 31-year-old hoopster has the power of a no-trade clause. This means he can veto any proposed trade coming his way. Therefore even if a third party comes into the picture, it would mostly be Beal’s decision whether he wants to vacate the remaining $110 million space he occupies in the Suns roster.

Sadly that’s not all. Some concerning facts have been thrown at Jimmy. But the question is: will he accept the harsh truth? At 35, the guard is dreaming of winning the championship before retirement. But, is Phoenix the right place for dreams to turn into reality?

NBA insider Steve Bulpett of Heavy Sport’s report isn’t going to be a pleasant trip for the Miami Heat star. NBA sources are scratching their heads when it comes to Jimmy Butler, offering little more than uncertain gestures. “I don’t know how this gets worked out,” one league source confessed to Heavy Sports. “And I only know of a few teams that want to come anywhere near this.” Jimmy is desperately trying to find his way out of the Miami Heat but not many teams are showing interest. No, not anymore.

The insider further added that one of the team’s head of basketball operations informed him: “First of all, Jimmy’s 35 and doesn’t have much value. And then the team that would like him the most is probably Phoenix because they’re so bad and they have the worst contract in (Bradley) Beal. Other than that, I don’t know of any teams that would want to take on Jimmy Butler, other than teams that just want to dump contracts — and Miami won’t go for that. I just don’t know how it’s going to work.”

Now, that’s concerning. If the Miami Heat doesn’t agree to send Jimmy to the Suns, he could end up with one of the mid-tier teams. And then what? Championship dreams could go out the window. The trade drama is happening because Butler wants to get paid. The Heat had offered him a $113 million contract extension, which would give him $52 million starting next season. But the Suns are willing to offer $121 million for two years. That’s $8 million more—a pretty sweet deal.

But is it the right move? Is Phoenix the team for Jimmy Butler? They also have Bradley Beal’s no-trade clause to deal with before they can even bring in the 6x All-Star. And how much will Pat Riley be on board with the idea? There’s a lot of uncertainty surrounding the situation, with very few answers so far.
