The intense pressure of playing in the NBA makes it essential for players to find ways to lighten up. One of their most common ways to do so is playing video games. Players in the NBA have often indulged in video games over the years to pass their time. With the popularity of games like NBA 2k, Madden NFL and FIFA, players have often found themselves enjoying a game or two on a console. However, Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson may have taken this too far.

Klay Thompson has been having an entertaining offseason. The 33-year-old has been shouting out major announcements throughout the offseason, also increasing his wealth over the summer. He recently featured on Podcast P with Paul George to discuss the NBA and his journey over the years. It was in this discussion where Thompson recalled an incident from 2016 that forced Paul George into early retirement from the FIFA video game.

Klay Thompson and Paul George represented Team USA in the 2016 Olympics. It was during this time that Thompson hustled George to such an extent that he considered retiring from playing FIFA.

“I played a lot of FIFA during the 2016 Olympics. My pockets were pretty fat after that trip,” Thompson said, talking about his time in the Olympics. He added, “I’m sorry Paul. I’ll beat this guy, it’ll be like 90th minute, I would just hit him with like a crazy one time and he’d be saying one more…”

George too chimed in to talk about how he got humiliated by Thompson throughout. “It got to a point where it was just like alright…let me stop playing this guy,” said the Los Angeles Clippers forward.

He further added, “I was losing every time like paying money and losing every time.” However, he offered to play Madden with the Warriors guard, also announcing his retirement from FIFA. “Madden, I think we need to run at Madden. I give him that, I retired from FIFA. I retired from FIFA, I don’t play anymore,” he hilariously claimed.
