The second Sunday of May brings with it a momentous occasion: Mother’s Day. A day when we celebrate that particular individual who has been a constant source of support, a disciplinarian, and a friend throughout our lives. It is also the day when we appreciate them for the struggles that they have gone through in their journey to motherhood. Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry’s wife, Ayesha, has tried her hand in various fields over the years. However, after raising three children, she may have found the field of motherhood to be amongst the toughest. While there were certain challenges, there were some valuable lessons to learn from this experience as well.

A few hours ago, both Ayesha Curry and her better half sat down for an interview with ESSENCE. During the same, she was asked about the essential teachings that came her way while raising three children. The 35-year-old highlighted three things in response: time, forgiveness, and perfection. These are things that she had different conceptions about prior to becoming a mother.

“I get done exponentially more now in a 24-hour period than I ever did before having kids,” said Ayesha. “You learn to forgive yourself more, and you instantly began to realize that perfection doesn’t exist. It’s not ever something to aspire to as a parent or as a woman”.

Mrs Curry highlighted that motherhood is a “chaotic” part of life. There are definitely moments when certain things wouldn’t make sense at all, but a mother would still have to continue moving on and working through. However, she also emphasized that all that struggle would feel worthwhile when one would take a moment to stop and appreciate the better parts of this process.

“When you stop to find the little things …. as a mom, the bright spots, you find peace, and happiness, and joy Ayesha continued. “Those moments are perfection”.

Despite describing herself as a ‘lists’ and ‘schedule’ girl, Stephen Curry’s wife feels that being a parent has taught her to ‘go with the flow. While it has its struggles, Ayesha’s favourite job” continues to be one she absolutely loves and adores.

Stephen Curry has often been an obstacle to Ayesha’s perfect ‘Mother’s Day’ Plan

It is certainly not an easy task to raise three children by yourself. Plus, with Riley (11), Ryan (8) and Canon (5) all being of different ages, it would be tedious to take care of children who each own separate personalities and interests. In such a situation, the one thing that a mother would love to get on Mother’s Day is a good night’s sleep. Unfortunately, Stephen Curry has unknowingly been denying his wife the same for years.

During an interview in 2019, while promoting her lifestyle website Homemade, Ayesha talked about her dream Mother’s Day plan. Along with getting a full day’s sleep, she would like nothing better than to not “get out of bed” and just “binge-watch Bravo shows”. Unfortunately, May also happens to be the same time when her husband and the rest of the Golden State Warriors are out competing in the playoffs. While this would provide the perfect excuse for others not to get out of bed and just watch the game from home, it doesn’t work for Ayesha.

“I’ll be spending my Mother’s Day at the arena — Game 7 is scheduled for Sunday if they don’t get it done before then,” said Mrs Curry. “So nothing out of the ordinary. I’ve spent most of my Mother’s Days there, so I guess my biggest Mother’s Day dream would be a win”.

The Golden State Warriors could not make it to the playoffs this season. While this was unfortunate news for NBA fans worldwide, Ayesha can finally now get a good night’s sleep on Mother’s Day after a long time.
