This preseason is turning out to be a treat for many. Several athletes are either already awarded an extension or are in talks for the same. All this is happening, while others are simply moving onto a well-suited franchise for them. Amidst all the good news pouring in, the 25-year-old Boston Celtics star is bringing home some well-deserved money.
As per several reports, one of Jayson Tatum‘s teammates is all set to sign an extension on his contract worth a whopping $30 million. However, it wasn’t very long ago when the young star was looking to be traded and had shown interest in switching sides.

Extensions are often indicators of the value any athlete carries within an organization. However, in the case of Payton Pritchard, he has yet to make his mark on the Celtics. But, it is understandable considering his age that they might be interested in keeping him for a larger purpose. Every franchise thrives upon the talent that they have nurtured, and his being just 25 can be a positive sign for the Celtics’ future.
It is also worth noting that Celtics hold the record for the most expensive contract in the NBA as well. Jaylen Brown‘s $304 million supermax contract with the Boston franchise holds this mind-boggling record.
As per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Celtics and Pritchard have reached an agreement for a 4-year contract extension. Wojnarowski tweeted, “Boston Celtics guard Payton Pritchard has agreed on a four-year, $30 million contract extension”. He further adds, “Deal is fully guaranteed”. Now it will be interesting to see what the Celtics have planned for Pritchard moving forward. Whether they wish to develop him for a core role or not, only time will tell.

Payton Pritchard had doubts initially
Although the youngster is inking a phenomenal deal now, only a few months ago, he had his doubts regarding the team. As previously reported,?“There was plenty of frustration both from his camp and the rest of the league when he didn’t move at the deadline.” The market was particularly buzzing in June with his trade rumors.
