23-year-old point guard Bones Hyland had a promising stint with the Denver Nuggets. He performed well in the limited minutes he got in Denver as a rookie. But Hyland was unhappy with how the Nuggets treated him in his sophomore season. He was expecting a much bigger role than he was given after his impressive rookie season performance. But Denver had other plans. They traded Bones to the Los Angeles Clippers, in exchange for two second-round draft picks in February.

Months after leaving the company of Nikola Jokic in bad taste, Bones Hyland reunited with his former team members and ex-employers in a wholesome moment.

The Denver Nuggets are set to face the Los Angeles Clippers tonight. Ahead of the game, Clippers guard Bones Hyland shared a wholesome moment with former employers and teammates at Denver. He caught up with several Nuggets coaches and staff members in Ball Arena, embracing them with full affection. It looks like Bones has let go of his bad history with the Denver Nuggets organization that led to his salty departure last season. After getting picked 26th in the 2021 draft, Bones averaged 10.1 points as a rookie in Denver. He hoped to get more minutes in his sophomore season after Denver traded Monte Morris to Washington. But Hyland’s playing time barely increased in his second year, and he averaged only 12.1 points playing 19.5 minutes per game.

“Honestly. Just felt like I (was) just being treated worse than I was my rookie (season), and I felt like I was playing way better than my rookie (season). I felt like sh*t just (hit me) from blindside,” Bones told ESPN in an interview after getting traded to the Clippers.

Bones Hyland got his wish after getting traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. He is getting a lot of playing time with the Clippers this season. He is playing an average of 23.5 minutes per game, which is 4 minutes more than what he used to get in Denver. Bones is also taking full advantage of that opportunity, averaging 11.8 points and 2.9 assists this season.

The Clippers are still struggling to adapt to the addition of James Harden to their roster. And that has led to some recent inconsistencies in Hyland?s performance as well. But overall, Bones is a talented young player who has a promising future in the league, and if he continues to improve his game, he can one day become a starting point guard in a Championship team.
