This year promises to be monumental for the USA. Team USA is going to the Paris Olympics to fight it out for a fifth straight gold medal in basketball. Then the NBA will start in October when Bronny James will make his much-anticipated debut for the Lakers in the league. And then to end the year, there is the 60th quadrennial Presidential election in November. But funnily enough, the last two have intertwined together.

How are these events connected? While on the surface there isn’t a link between the two, Colin Cowherd has proposed an idea that’ll bolster the Democrats’ campaign. We can thank Cowherd for the proposal, but it won’t be a fun one for Bronny.

“Don’t tell me the economy is bad”– Cowherd said to start his show, The Herd on Fox Sports Radio, after pointing out a major development. According to the media veteran, “Bronny James has become the most popular betting pick for Rookie Of The Year…Clearly, there’s a lot of money to burn in America. The last 7 NBA rookies of the year, none of them have spent a day in the G-League, and Bronny right now is a G-League player.” He continued his hard-hitting rant and added, “So the Democrats should use this, during the national convention, the Bronny Index. ‘I’m Joe Biden. I approve this message. Look how good our economy is. People are betting on Bronny to win rookie of the year.’ Flights are packed. We all got big screens, and everybody’s betting on Bronny. And an inconceivable award, he has no chance to win. That’s a strong economy. But it also really speaks to how absolutely dreadful this draft was.”

Cowherd even dragged the overall No.2 pick, Alex Sarr, who scored only two points in his two outings with 1-21 shooting. Establishing his point to prove how “dreadful” this draft class was. “And this illustrates why I defended the Lakers and LeBron James and Klutch Sports. I mean, they had some leverage, did Klutch Sports. I’d be careful about using it every time I have it, but, this is no big deal. This is not worth all the grifters on the Internet and bad actors losing sleep. It’s a bad draft,” concluded the analyst. The outbursts came after Bronny’s awful start to his Summer League campaign. After 4 games, he had only 17 points to his name but James Jr. is turning the table as he found himself on the rise again.

Critics are ready to pounce on a misstep from Bronny. The Lakers’ No.9 even admitted his slump while trying to impress his coaches and GM. That didn’t work, but now Bronny is finding the rhythm he needed after two successful outings with the gold and purple.  The splashing sound of the net from his 17-foot jumper was the turning point for Bronny in the game against the Hawks. He eventually ended the game with 12 points after scoring 9 in the first half. Late in the game, he even sunk a 3-pointer, his second from the deep from 5 attempts to tie the scores. The Lakers ached out an 87-86 win with Bronny leaving the court on a high.

The next game against the Cavs was his best so far, with the guard recording 13 points from 50% field shooting, complemented with 5 rebounds and 3 passes to set up his teammates for the bucket. He activated his clutch gene at the right time to save the game that ultimately went in the LA side’s favor with a 93-89 win. If Bronny continues in the same fettle, probably putting the money on his for ROTY might not turn out to be a bust move after all.
