Next season will be of paramount importance for Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors. They won the 2022 NBA Finals after beating major odds and with a depleting squad. However, last season was quite disappointing for Steve Kerr’s men and they will be eager to prove their haters wrong. One of their biggest problems this offseason has been contract issues for players like Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
While Green has already secured a four-year extension, Thompson still awaits a formal offer from the Warriors. In a recent podcast appearance, eminent NBA Insider Ramona Shelburne threw some light on his extension.

Thompson, Curry, and Green have played a major role in the team’s success over the past years. However, Thompson has dropped in his level clearly, especially after being injured for more than 900 days!
Despite that, Steve Kerr regards him as an integral player and the team is eager to offer him an extension very soon. Talking on The Lowe Podcast, Shelburne revealed that Kerr wants to keep their veteran core. “Klay Thompson is a really interesting story. He is a very valuable player even if he is. He is great in terms of personality and the way they decide to take this team forward. My understanding is that they have opened extension talks with Klay Thompson”, revealed the insider on Steve Lowe’s podcast.
She further added, “The money is going to be the question and how that fits with the new CBA and the restrictions that it implies. The Warriors feel very strong about keeping Thompson and Green alongside Steph Curry. The Warriors feel very strong about that, but that place they arrived that, is after strong consultation with Steve Kerr”. She also revealed that the Warriors will base their offer to Thompson around the deal offered to Green. The 2017 Defensive Player of the Year agreed to a four-year $100 million deal a few months ago.
