Amid all the speculations, Bronny James has finally made his decision. Just hours before the deadline, Klutch Sports CEO and LeBron James’ agent Rich Paul revealed that the 19-year-old decided to remain in the 2024 NBA draft and forgo his remaining collegiate eligibility. Predicted to go undrafted this year by ESPN’s initial mock draft, Bronny has upped his value significantly after his Combine performance and other pre-draft processes. Keeping that in mind, Paul’s announcements also received a go-ahead from Savannah.
Announcing Bronny’s eligibility status, Rich Paul claimed, “Bronny’s draft range is wide. He’s a really good prospect who has a lot of room for growth.” While Paul doesn’t care whether Bronny gets selected as the No. 1 pick or his name is announced at the tail end, what actually matters to him is the plan the team drafting the youngster has for his development. “The team’s strategy, the opportunity, and the financial commitment. That’s why I’m not doing a two-way deal.”
Savannah even approved this crucial decision of rejecting every two-way deal for Bronny despite him being projected as a late second-round pick, as she shared the post on her Instagram story saying, “Working.” Apart from the 15 fixed roster spots, every team has three two-way contracts that they can hand out to players. But that deal comes with a limited participation of 50 games and also a massive pay cut, which is half of the rookie minimum contract of $580,000. And Rich Paul doesn’t think that will be the right path for Bronny’s development in the NBA.

Can Bronny James afford to be picky?
With Rich Paul making Bronny’s plan clear, several teams have reportedly shown interest in the former USC guard. As per NBA Insider Shams Charania, “Bronny James has over 10 workout invites.” However, the 19-year-old reportedly rejected the invite of eight teams so far and has had a very picky approach. Charania further revealed Bronny has accepted the Lakers and the Suns invites.
It comes as no surprise that Bronny is likely to go for a pre-draft workout with the Lakers because his father is the face of that franchise. More importantly, there have been major speculations about the Lakers using their 17 pick to draft Bronny to keep LeBron in LA for the final stages of his career. So, it will make sense strategically for them to make the draft and see how things go from there.
Meanwhile, the choice to accept the Suns’ invitation could be because they already have a well-built contending team and Bronny could learn a lot playing under superstars like Durant, Booker, and Beal. With their 22 pick, the Suns could sign him, which would also be a great opportunity to attract more eyeballs toward the franchise.
And with Bronny’s potential to improve, he could even prove to be a decent asset in their title pursuit. But for a player like LeBron’s son, who didn’t have a great college career and was projected to go undrafted just a few months ago, being so picky in his options might risk his chances of getting drafted.
