The NBA scene is in full offseason mode. We are still a couple of months away from the training camp. Therefore, many NBA players are seen chilling out or engaging in conversations that revolve around other sports. For many NBA athletes, there is other love than basketball itself. Perhaps the disaster of Game 1 in the 2022 Wild Card Series against the Padres has cut deep for the pitcher. When he conceded four home runs during the game, the New York Mets didn’t call his service again, losing the series in three games. That type of performance is such an anomaly of substantial proportions.
This is a player with an enviable resume. He made the All-MLB Second Team last season, and that is just one of the many achievements in his career. He has made the All-MLB First Team two times. As a three-time strikeout leader, Max is bound to improve the team he joins and remains one of the best pitchers in the game. After just a year with the New York Mets, Scherzer has been traded to the Texas Rangers.
After spending the most money in the league, the Mets formulated a super-team around Scherzer and closer David Roberson, another superstar-level player. The news of Roberson’s trade to the Marlins sent waves. It didn’t please Scherzer at all who came with title aspirations.
The team had spent around half a billion to put this super team together, but they fell short quickly. The three-time strikeout leader signed a four-year $130 million deal with the New York-based team. However, he is traded just one year into the deal. When a player of this caliber is traded, it brings a huge surprise.
This also surprised NBA scoring phenom, Donovan Mitchell. Responding to a trade report about Scherzer, the four-time NBA All-Star is in disbelief.

Later, when his father nabbed the position as Mets’ director of play relations, locker room visits for the Mets were a common occurrence. These visits ignited Mitchell’s passion for baseball. When he was mesmerizing fans with his hoops game in Canterbury, he was also engaging with baseball.
However, the Cleveland Cavaliers Guard’s baseball journey was cut short in his sophomore year of high school. A broken wrist during a play discouraged him from picking up the game again.
