With Klay Thompson missing, can Steph Curry carry the Warriors on his own this season?

With the US Open Grand Slam Final underway, celebrities have already made their appearance at the event including NBA players. Just recently Klay Thompson and Sabrina Ionescu joined others for the match between Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Fritz. Now, as exciting as the occasion was, Thompson missed a Warriors reunion by a day! The four-time champ has already started working out with his new teammates but could’ve met his splash brother had he come a day late.

Stephen Curry and Ayesha Curry arrived in New York for some US Open action just recently. The couple has been quite active with their Eat. Learn. Play Foundation and former First Lady’s initiative, PLEZi Nutrition, finally found some time to spend. Steph Curry, on the other hand, has a tight schedule over the next week. After giving back to the community, Curry along with the Kings’ De’Aaron Fox is set to go to China for the Curry Brand’s first-ever retail store opening.

Nevertheless, Steph and Ayesha will get to catch some tennis action joining others, including Kevin Garnett, Tyrese Maxey, Sue Bird, and others who attended the event. But then again, it would’ve been great to see Steph reunite with Thompson for the first time after his exit from the Bay. If anything, it might have helped meeting at the event, knowing how to atmosphere will be when Klay suits up in a Mavs jersey in Chase Center.

Steph Curry and coach Kerr know what’s coming. Playing without Klay will be a task. “You know, having Klay head on to Dallas, it’s tough. It’s something I never imagined would be a reality. But, you know, you want him to be happy… It does suck losing Klay, there’s no two ways around it.”, said Curry. Now, from a wider perspective, things are not looking good for the Warriors. Whereas Thompson found the right place to play for if not Golden State.

Have an interesting take?

The Splash brother made five consecutive Finals appearances alongside Steph and company. Klay performance in the playoffs has always been valuable to the Warriors. Not to mention his ‘Game 6 Klay’ tag which always takes rounds of social media every time the Warriors prepare to play a Game 6. Thompson has struggled quite a bit in the regular season recently. It wasn’t the first time for the shooting guard to go through such a rough year. But then again, in the past, Thompson managed to get back on track in no time.

However, as he teams up with his old rival, Kyrie Irving, it will be interesting to see the two veterans pair up along with the young and talented Slovenian. Of course, Luka Doncic will be the center of attention, but watching Klay and Irving together will be just as exciting. It will be interesting to watch Klay in Dallas, as the Mavs hope to make yet another run to the Finals next season. The squad has all the pieces of the puzzle and at this point, they just need to play their cards right.

What are your thoughts on Klay Thompson’s future in Dallas? Do you think he can win a championship with Irving and Doncic? Let us know in the comments.
