The Milwaukee Bucks host the New Orleans Pelicans tonight at the Fiserv Forum stadium. Both teams are coming off losses. The Pelicans suffered an 83-107 home loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday, while the Bucks closed with a 100-112 loss against the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers. This is the first matchup between the two teams in the 2023-24 season and will set the tone for the upcoming games.

With little to no injuries for both teams, this will be an exciting match-up where the young and hungry Pelicans will try to take down the offensively dominant Bucks led by Giannis. Let us take a look at the expected starters for tonight.

The Bucks have a healthy roster with no names on their injury list. So we can expect their usual starters to line up against the Pelicans tonight. This includes Damian Lillard (PG), Malik Beasley (SG), Khris Middleton (SF), Giannis Antetokounmpo (PF), and big man Brook Lopez at the center. Giannis is fourth in leading the league in points this season with an average of 31 points while Lopez is second in terms of blocks with an average of 2.8.

On the other side of the court, the Pelicans have an almost healthy roster except for their star power forward Zion Williamson, who is listed as day-to-day on the injury list following a foot injury. Zion missed Friday’s game against the Thunder. If he is a no-show tonight, he could be replaced by Trey Murph III. The other four will be CJ McCollum (PG), Brandon Ingram (SG), Herbert Jones (SF), and Jonas Valanciunas (C).

Overview of the two teams

With a 31-14 record, the Bucks are number one in the Central Division and are second in leading the Eastern Conference. The Pelicans are 26-19 and on top of the Southwest Division while trailing at seventh place in the Western Conference. Milwaukee has won seven of their last 11 games and boasts a 20-5 record at home.

New Orleans has won six of their last 11 games and holds a 12-9 record on the road. They are young and competitive, and we are seeing a new level of confidence and swagger in their games. This is a talented team with playoff hopes, but Giannis and Co. will be a tough group to go up against and emerge victorious.
