Two of the best players in the NBA come head-to-head at the Fiserv Forum on Sunday. It’s time for Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Milwaukee Bucks to take on Joel Embiid’s Philadelphia 76ers. Embiid’s Sixers are the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference, vying for a playoff spot. While the Bucks are sitting pretty as the 5th seed, they’ll want to improve on their 27-23 record heading into the All-Star break.
Given the stars involved, you’d hate to miss out on them playing against each other through injury. After all, the last time Giannis played, he put up a 30-point double-double in a loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. So let’s look at the injury report submitted by both teams to know for sure. Will the Titans, Giannis, and Embiid go up against each other on Sunday?

Giannis missed his third consecutive game for the Bucks as they suffered a 115-110 loss to the 9th-seed Atlanta Hawks. The Bucks only won one game out of those 3, a 112-102 victory against the Charlotte Hornets. However, when Giannis did play before his injury, the Bucks still struggled. Milwaukee have won just one of their last 6 games and that lone game was without Giannis Antetokounmpo. The most notable defeat was to the San Antonio Spurs where Giannis was blocked by Victor Wembanyama in a highlight play as the Texas team dropped 144 points.
The Milwaukee Bucks’ struggles run deeper than Giannis Antetokounmpo’s health, and for their game against the Sixers, they will have to solve it without him.
Here is the Bucks injury report for Sunday vs. Philadelphia:
Out:
Giannis Antetokounmpo (Left Calf Strain)Questionable:
Pat Connaughton (Left Calf Strain)
Liam Robbins (Right Groin Strain)— Eric Nehm (@eric_nehm) February 8, 2025
Giannis Antetokounmpo is OUT of due to a strained calf per their injury report. Pat Connaughton and Liam Robbins are also QUESTIONABLE for the Sixers game. Connaughton like Giannis has a strained calf while Robbins is nursing a groin strain.
Unfortunately, the Sixers may not fully capitalize on Giannis’ absence. That’s because Joel Embiid is also at risk of missing the Sixers’ next game. He is listed as QUESTIONABLE on the injury report as Philly tries to manage his knee injury. Jared McCain will miss the contest in its entirety; he’s OUT recovering from knee surgery. The Sixers’ big man and Paris Olympics sensation, Yabusele Guerschon, is also PROBABLE to play the Bucks. He is recovering from knee surgery after tearing his meniscus.
Clearly, the two teams have a few injuries. While they’ve both had worse crises in the past, these injuries still put a damper on the match on Sunday. Nevertheless, let’s see how these teams may line up to face each other given the injuries to their biggest stars.

If Embiid cannot regain fitness before its game on Sunday, the burden of scoring will fall on the shoulders of one Tyrese Maxey. This year, Maxey is averaging a career-high 27.8 points through 44 games in the regular season. He is easily the Sixers’ best player behind Embiid and some would even argue he’s been better this season. So who will be backing up Maxey against the Bucks?
POSITION | 1st UNIT | 2nd UNIT | 3rd UNIT |
PG | Tyrese Maxey | Kyle Lowry | Jared Butler |
SG | Kelly Oubre Jr | Eric Gordon | Quentin Grimes |
SF | Paul George | Quentin Grimes | Justin Edwards |
PF | Guerschon Yabusele (DD) | Justin Edwards | Ricky Council IV |
C | Andre Drummond | Gurschon Yabusele (DD) | Adem Bona |
The Bucks, on the other hand, have a bonafide Hall of Famer to rely on in Giannis’ absence. No, it’s not the new arrival, Kyle Kuzma. We are obviously talking about Damian Lillard. Even at 34, he’s averaging 25 points a game and is one of the best players in the league. Lillard’s performances have proven to be the key for the Bucks off-late as their last two wins were when he scored 25+ points. However, he has breached that mark just twice in the last eight games. So here’s how the Bucks will line up around him against the Sixers:

Both sides find themselves on losing streaks heading into Sunday’s game. Believe it or not, this bodes well if you’re a neutral who’s interested in this game. After all, Damian Lillard and Tyrese Maxey going up against each other on the court like they have something to prove is a tantalizing prospect. We’ll surely catch this game and make sure you do too!
