Despite being labeled with numerous titles in the NBA world, Kyrie Irving has always trod clear with the humanitarian title. This millionaire philanthropist has showed up unannounced at the door of distressed families, and offered them a sigh of relief. He recently pulled off a similar story. Landon Thomas, a Wings Bulletin reporter, took to his X handle and shared the details of Irving’s gesture to donate $26,000 to Andrews Dzifa Amuzu. Thomas’ post revealed that Amuzu was waiting for a kidney transplant and required immediate surgery.

 

The patient’s family, who couldn’t afford the surgery, which cost $25,000, approached gofundme.com for help. Fortunately, the news reached Irving, and he helped them with a sum of $26,000.The gofundme.com further revealed that the family had only received $280 dollars before Irving shocked them with his donation.

Irving’s act to help the Ghanaian man wasn’t the first time, where he knocked on the front door of the top donations section of the GoFundMe website. For instance, the family of Devin Chandler received a similar treatment back in 2022.

Chandler is one among the three college football players, who lost their lives in gun violence, reported Sports Illustrated. One of the co-workers of Chandler’s mother created a fundraiser, requesting $50,000 for the funeral expense. This was enough for Irving to show up in the top-deck of top donations section of Chandler’s GoFundMe account. The SI article further highlighted that the screenshots donations went viral on social media.

Apart from donating to people in an emergency, he has also given back to society by providing education. An NY Post article reported that Irving paid a $22,000 college fee for a young student in order to continue their education, again via GoFundMe.
