Millionaire Alexis Ohanian Visits Giannis Antetokounmpo & Wife Mariah at LAGC a Year After Controversial Charity Event

Ah, NBA players and their never-ending love for golf! Whenever they are not busy hooping on the hardwood, they often show up at the golf course to cool off and have a good time. Well, like Steph Curry, Giannis Antetokounmpo is no different. Recently returning from his homeland of Greece, where he finally tied the knot with his long-time girlfriend Mariah Riddlesprigger, the Bucks talisman was spotted at the Los Angeles Golf Club accompanied by his wife. And the couple was greeted by a familiar face as Reddit co-founder and LAGC part-owner Alexis Ohanian, who was part of a controversial charity event with the hooper last year, met with the newly-weds.

At a golf event organized by CAFF, The Charles Antetokounmpo Family Foundation, Ohanian paid a visit to Giannis and Mariah to support the cause. In a video posted on CAFF’s Instagram stories, the multi-millionaire can be seen sharing a warm hug with Mariah and clicking pictures with the Antetokounmpos. Well, apart from knowing each other for a long time, Alexis and Giannis also have a business relationship as both families became partners and investors in the LAGC last year.

Along with Alexis Ohanian, his wife Serena Williams and her sister Venus are also part of the project. Meanwhile, Giannis Antetokounmpo is joined in the venture by his brothers Thanasis, Alex, and Kostas. So, it’s a whole family affair for both parties! Ohanian had even talked about the partnership with the basketball family last year on Thanasis’ podcast, “When we started talking and having the whole Antetokounmpo family in here, just got exciting.”

Serena Williams’ husband was even representing Giannis and his family as he wore the ‘Antetokounbros’ hoodie to the pod. Sure enough, the investor has collaborated with the Antetokounmpo family in the past. But one charity event last year invited some trouble for both families!

When fans exposed Giannis Antetokounmpo and Alexis Ohanian’s “Hypocrisy”

It was last year that CAFF hosted a major charity event called ‘Poverty Is No Joke.’ And it proved to be a highly successful event as well-renowned names and celebrities showed up, including comedian Hasan Minhaj. Even Alexis Ohanian was there to support the cause and addressed the people in attendance with a brief speech. The event and the Foundation hold a special place in the Bucks star’s heart as it is inspired by his humble beginnings and how his parents worked hard to provide their children with a comfortable life. “We decided as a family, to come together build this foundation to basically just do what people did for us. You know, just put our hand out there and give them an opportunity to be great in whatever they decide to do.” Giannis said last year.

While the entire event was well received by the media, fans noticed that Giannis and the rest of the people present were dressed in outfits and feasting on food worth thousands of dollars.

Sure enough, it led to an outrage among the fans, as they called out the hypocrisy of the multi-millionaires present in the room. Comments like “The irony of everybody wearing outfits worth several thousand dollars and eating Michelin star meals.” And “If it’s no joke then change my life fam.” Began flooding the socials. One fan even left people wondering with the comment, “Think about the hundreds of thousands that could’ve been donated if they just wore normal clothes to the event, cheaper decor, more reasonably priced food.” But despite the brief controversy, Giannis and Ohanian’s relationship remains intact, and it’s great to see the two collaborating once again at another CAFF event.
