Ahead of their next game against Puerto Rico tomorrow, Team USA hopped on to get some entourage at the Olympics camp in Paris. One of them was the show stealer of the South Sudan game, center Bam Adebayo, who went on to visit the 13-time Fencing champion Miles Chamley-Watson in his training camp. It was more of a cheer for the British American fencer from the Team USA star ahead of the Fencing Event on August 4 against Egypt’s Fencing team. However, wherever Bam is for cheer, it is destined to be a fun ride as Adebayo learns a few fencing skills from the master himself.
The official X account for Team USA Basketball uploaded a snippet of a meet-up between Bam Adebayo and Miles Chamley-Watson on Fencing training grounds where Chamley seemed to be teaching Bam the nuances of fencing. From “en-garde” to commanding to positions, a lot went down during the brief lessons. And witnessing how Bam was able to pick up on those intricacies, the 34-year-old tried to check Adebayo’s shoulder flexibility, as they extended their swords alongside their spine with one hand.
After all the inspection, Chamley seemed to be sure of Adebayo’s fencing talents, saying, “You are all ready for the Olympics.”

However, what got the hoopers’ fanbase’s attention was the incredible stature of Miles Chamley-Watson in front of an NBA star like Bam Adebayo, who is himself about 6’9″. Yet Miles did not seem small in front of him.
Miles Chamley-Watson: Height and accolades
Surprisingly, Miles has an incredibly long stature of 6’4″, higher than the average for men’s 6’0″ length on the height scale. It makes it easy for the American fencer to use his wingspan aptly while poking the opponent with the sword at different angles. Different from usual foil athletes covered in tattoos, he earned two NCAA team championships in Pennsylvania, earning him the status of a prodigy at an early age.

Miles Chamley-Watson's height is insane for a fencer! Does this change your view on the sport?
Have an interesting take?
By the year 2016, he had already won a bronze medal for Team USA in foil (fencing style with a light sword and narrow strike area). Also, he holds an individual gold medal in foil fencing that he won in Budapest in 2013.
His wild playing style is so unique that a foil fencing move in which the fencer rounds his arm at the back of his neck to attack the side of the opponent is named the ‘Chamley-Watson’ move.
Fans go gaga over Miles Chamley-Watson’s stature alongside NBA star Bam Adebayo
Well, putting Miles’ career accolades aside, the possibility of the foil fencer with a potential basketball career intrigued the fans much more than one of the users on X commented on the Team USA Basketball Twitter post, “Miles is tall as fu*k lmao.”
It is not every day one sees someone like Miles, who is not even an NBA athlete, jump higher than Bam Adebayo’s stature, as Miles demonstrated in the snippet. That even left Adebayo in awe as he said, “My facial expressions are not visible but wow!!”
Another user on X straight-up gave an offer to Miles Chamley-Watson as he wrote in reply to the post, “Other dude respectfully could be a starting 3 in the NBA rn.” Well, we would not be surprised if it happened. Usually, the average height of the starting five, except the 7-footer giants, the height of NBA players is 6’6.3″. It might seem a bit of a stretch, but considering his 80-inch wingspan, Miles is surely a force to reckon with in the NBA.
And then yet another fan on X could not be more surprised after witnessing Miles as he commented, “How tall is the fencing guy!?”
What makes Miles so long is his bigger frame, which is probably the planks he does during his training, adding to his longer frame. The exercise complements his body, making him seem much bigger than other fencers.

Whether Miles Chamley-Watson gets to the NBA or not, fans loved the Olympics crossover that he, along with Bam, gave for the sake of promoting the sport. Along with the Team event on July 4, Miles has also got an individual men’s foil event on July 29; as he said to Time Magazine about a week ago, “You’re going to see something you’ve never seen before, that’s for sure.”
