“I’m thrilled. I told Dennis today he’s kicked my a** on three different continents… If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.” Steve Kerr certainly highlighted his excitement over the Golden State Warriors’ most recent acquisition. It was only a few hours ago when the Bay Area franchise finalized a deal to acquire Dennis Schroder from the Brooklyn Nets. In exchange, the Warriors sent away De’Anthony Melton and Reece Beekman. Currently, under a 14-11 win record, a change is what Stephen Curry & Co. needed to bring the team back up to a championship-contending level. As Schroder comes in, the squad couldn’t help but hand out their endorsement.
In the aftermath of the Warriors’ recent loss against the Dallas Mavericks, the reporters wasted no time in asking Stephen Curry about the recent trade. The ten-time All-Star stated that the recent changes were quite quick for his taste. However, he did commend Mike Dunleavy on the decision by stating that he was “excited about the opportunity to play with a guy that you played against for a long time. He’s a true competitor, can create, score, run an offense, or hold the lineup. So, excited to see him plug in.”
Draymond Green also handed out his praise by stating, “Looking forward to obviously being teammates, getting to know him better. But, I know who he is and what he is, and that’s what’s most important.”

In the 11 years that Dennis Schroder has been in the NBA, he has faced the Warriors in 25 regular season games. From an overall look, the competition between him and Stephen Curry and co remained close. Today, he holds a 12-11 record against them. However, Schroder started gaining an edge during the recent matchups. As a result, the same record becomes 9-1 when looking at the 10 most recent games. Therefore, Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are perfectly aware of the trouble the point guard has caused over the years.
Fortunately, by including him in their roster, Schroder is someone who will now create trouble on their behalf!
From an early outlook, Dennis Schroder’s acquisition indicates good things coming the Warriors squad’s way. After all, according to NBC Sports, the player can help fill De’Anthony Melton’s role. The team sidelined the shooting guard/point guard indefinitely after he underwent season-ending knee surgery.
Perhaps filling the gap left by Melton was why Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr chose to acquire Schroder quickly. After all, he could have made the move anytime before the February deadline. But the urgency of the decision was something that Dunleavy’s star players didn’t choose to mind.

Continuing the discussion during the post-game presser, Draymond Green gave his praise to Mike Dunleavy Jr too. Highlighting that the move gave a sense into the Warriors front office’s priorities, he added, “Mike (Dunleavy Jr.) has been great since stepping into that role. To have that sense of urgency to get that deal done like that (snaps fingers) just continues to show why he is who he is, why he took over that role, and why he’s going to continue to be great in this league as a general manager.”
The Warriors reportedly consulted Draymond Green and Stephen Curry, two of the senior players on the current roster, before finalizing the trade. Both players may have been pleased with the team’s direction. This, in turn, may have allowed them to give their approval.
“With Bob (Myers) and with Mike, it’s always a conversation if anything is real or anything is worth having a serious conversation to at that point involve me,” Curry said. “I don’t want to be distracted by what-ifs and all that type of stuff. It happened pretty quick”.
