As Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, and Devin Booker graced the Suns’ crowd for the first time, it felt like savoring the sweet nectar from a patiently nurtured sapling. The Suns’ fans had eagerly awaited this moment for more than a quarter of the season. However, as the pre-game introductions unfolded, another noteworthy event stole the spotlight in the arena, overshadowing the debut of the formidable big three. Former Suns players Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson stole the show.

Well, they didn’t exactly steal the show, but their mere presence proved enough. Returning to Phoenix after being part of a trade for Kevin Durant, the crowd couldn’t contain their excitement, showering them with united cheers, even larger than what that they had for Book, KD, and Beal combined.

In a heartfelt gesture, the Phoenix Suns expressed their appreciation for two former players, Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson. The Suns played a nearly minute-long video on the jumbotron, with an ending message, “Welcome Back Cam&Mikal.”

With the homecoming of these stars who had once grown with the team, the fans couldn’t contain their excitement, cheering at their loudest and momentarily setting aside the anticipation for the big three’s exhibition.

Both Bridges and Johnson have significantly developed their games after being traded from the Suns. Johnson is maintaining solid averages of 14.7 points per game and 5.7 rebounds per game this season.

On the other hand, in December alone, Mikal is averaging 29.3 points while shooting 58.2% from the field. Moreover, he is also making a case for becoming an All-Star this season.

Bridges sheds light on facing the Suns

Mikal Bridges is currently on the Brooklyn Nets and is motivated to lead them from the front. Despite his changed allegiance, he remains a beloved figure among Suns fans. Furthermore, he was also a fan favorite throughout his entire time in Phoenix.

So, when asked about his return to his former home arena, he eagerly embraced every moment. Reflecting on the experience, he expressed, “Definitely excited. Usually, I’m kind of not like that. Usually super locked in on the game and everything like that – which I still am – but it’s a little different being here for so long and just being here, embracing the fans and everybody here. I’m just excited to see a lot of people that I’ve seen since I’ve been here.”
