After coming back from a 25-game suspension, Ja Morant brought back his team from the dead. They were suffering losses left, right and center and were barely able to ever win. However, when he came back, their team started performing well under his guidance and even started defeating major teams like the Los Angeles Lakers, Indiana Pacers, etc. But his comeback was very short-lived as he played only nine matches before getting injured and being ruled out of the season.

Looking at Ja Morant’s situation, a former NBA champion looked at the bright side for the Volunteer State and explained why this was a good thing for them.

Ja Morant’s injury will help the Grizzlies regroup says Jeff Teague

The former NBA champion Jeff Teague had a discussion with his boys on his podcast called Club 520. There Teague gave an explanation as to why Morant’s injury would be beneficial for his team and said, “I hate to see him go down, but it might be the best thing for their franchise. I think it is gonna help them regroup like you know when you start living your life different… like you get into trouble or injured or something get f***ed up where you gotta regroup, you come back a better person. So I think he is going to come back a better player.”

He further added to that and said the Grizzlies will get another draft pick, which they would be able to trade to get a good player to their squad. That might definitely be a good option for the Grizzlies, considering their current situation. As of now, they are ranked thirteenth in the Western Conference rankings with a fifteen-win and twenty-five-loss record. For the nine games Ja Morant was there, they had a record of six wins and three losses. However, now due to his season-ending injury, the Grizzlies are back to square one.

How did Ja Morant sustain this injury?

Ja Morant had an amazing comeback performance and effect on his team however, during practice he suffered a shoulder injury. The injury he sustained is a torn labrum and has resulted in a diagnosis of season-ending surgery. Morant’s absence is expected to have some major consequences on the team’s performance, particularly considering his crucial position and ability to lead the squad of the Grizzlies.

As he recovers, the 2x All-Star hopes to be fully ready for the start of the 2024-25 NBA season in late October, giving him and the Grizzlies a new chance to regroup and succeed on the court. The Volunteer State now will have to work through the rest of the season without Morant’s on-court contributions, which presents a difficult situation.
