The Denver Nuggets slipped up against the Houston Rockets today. Suffering a 108-128 loss, the point gap between the teams must sting. But this loss was not the only troubling news out of Denver today, as their superstar, Nikola Jokic, also injured himself while warming up. The Nuggets are now 2-4 without the ‘Joker’ on the team.
A reporter asked head coach Michael Malone about Jokic’s injury in the post-game press conference. “He hurt his elbow,” said Malone, keeping his reply brief. When asked about the timing and severity of the injury, Malone said, “It was just something that popped up last minute.”
The reporter then followed up by asking about the severity of Jokic’s injury. Malone admitted that he wasn’t in the loop about it at the time of the press conference. “I haven’t talked to the training staff yet. So, I’ll have a conversation with Steve Short and see where we’re at with that,” said the Nuggets head coach.

Nuggets fans will recognize Steve Short as the VP of Sports Medicine at Denver. And they will surely be hoping that he can aid Jokic in making a speedy recovery. One player who managed to bounce back well from his injury, though, is the Nuggets’ guard, Jamal Murray. And he gave the media and fans an update regarding his recovery during the post-game press conference.

The Nuggets’ guard Jamal Murray has struggled quite a bit with injuries throughout his NBA career. He missed the entirety of the 2021/22 NBA season because of an ACL tear and only managed to play 59 games in the following season because of other nagging injuries. This season, he has struggled with a knee injury that almost caused him to miss the game against the Rockets.
However, it seems he has recovered well from his injury, as evidenced by his performance against the Rockets. One of the few bright spots for the Nuggets tonight, Jamal registered 26 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists against Houston. And when a reporter asked him about his injury and recovery, he was very upfront with his answer.
When asked how his knee was holding up, Jamal replied, “Good, good. Yeah, good. The anti-inflammatories man!” he exclaimed with a wry smile on his face. Although it was clear that he wasn’t too keen on answering too many about his recovery. Murray was a little flabbergasted when a reporter asked how he felt over the past two games.

Letting out an exasperated sigh, “Good,” he replied coldly. He followed that up with an equally frustrated, “What kind of question is that?” So it seems like Jamal Murray has fully recovered from his knee issues and wants to put the whole saga to bed. We just hope he remains healthy and can link up well with Nikola Jokic as Denver shapes up to fight for another NBA title.
