Kobe Bryant, however late in the game, also signed a significant contract to have his signature shoe line with the brand. However, when Victor Wembanyama followed their footsteps and signed with Nike, he made a fascinating choice.

Basketball athletes are faced with a tough decision when they sign with Nike. The decision of which shoe line they should opt for. In his first ever game with the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Summer League, Wembanyama laced up the Nike Air Zoom GT Run. An interesting choice, considering the options that were available.

However, this is not the first time Wembanyama has laced up the Nike Air Zoom GT Run in a game. He signed a multi-year sneaker deal with Nike while playing professional basketball in France and has worn the GT Runs ever since.

7’5 Wemby wears a custom size 20.5 and is expected to wear the same shoes through his rookie season as well. The Frenchman made a bold decision to wear this shoe but will the shoe serve the No.1 Draft pick well?

Wembanyama’s shoe is no joke

The Nike Air Zoom GT Run is the second shoe in the Greater Than series. The Air Zoom GT Run features a more robust React midsole and a wavy pattern. The cushioning system is stacked with two Air Zoom units. It also consists of two layers of Nike React foam. The shoe brings the cushioning closer to the foot through its Zoom Air Strobel construction.
